        James Ang:
B can be quite low score/grade that can pull down overall aggregate although other subjects score A/A*.

        Thank you James Ang.

          mathsparks:

prestigious no doubt, but isnt this the 2nd intake at sec1 only? your kids ready to be guinea pigs? plus NJC is a government school not IS school. So, please go in with your eyes open.

Though I do not really agree about the prestigious part (as compared to RJC or RI or HCI), I agree with mathsparks about the \"guinea pigs\" things. Don't think they have much experience running it.

Based on my friend's comments, he told me that his daughter complained that the IP course is quite haphazardly organized.

Yes, pls go in with eyes open. My opinion is that with 263, better go RI or HCI.

          Cheers

Erm, they've been having this since 2004, but they've just extended it to sec 1 this year. It used to be sec3 - JC2, now its 6 years. They have experience, for sure. RI is my dream school :stupid: but with score of only 257 (because my my stupid only A maths) this year, I can't get there. Go to RI, i agree on that point

I have called up MOE and my doubt has been cleared.

I was told that by MOE that the marks all PSLE students received are only rounded marks. In reality, MOE has a list of all students' marks in \"many decimals\".

When I asked \"how many decimals ?\", the officer told me politely that this is confidential but she told me that the decimal places are \"very long\" and therefore very unlikely there are 2 students with the same score.

Based on this, she told me that you won't be at a disadvantaged if you put a school as 5th choice as compared to someone who put at 1st choice for the same school.
Hope this cleared everyone's doubt !!
              Cheers
in fact, moe had already made it very clear abt the ranking of t-score in merit
when choosing secondary schools and also from the primary school P6 info nite briefing.
wonder why \"some teachers\" would say something the opp to confuse parents.

i would like to relate this to the \"maths algebra thingy\"
moe replied-----------------Can use algebra or any mathematical logically methods while some teachers still say the opp. Sigh!!!

                  James Ang:
Generally girls score better PSLE results than boys (that explains the 4-5 point gap between RI and RGS) so I expect NJC's cut off point to fall square between RI's 261 and RGS's 265, because NJC is co-ed school, and some bright girls who may not opt for RGS, they may get into the next best NJC choice instead. Also while some bright kids prefer separate boys school and girls school, others like co-ed schools like NJC and Dunman High which take in bright kids regardless of gender.

last year's \"guinea pigs\" got into NJC with only COP 259, so maybe they are lucky \"guinea pigs\" after all to get into a top JC at age of 13! πŸ˜„
                  James,

you forgot about Nan Yang Girls High. Some bright girls will also choose this school. πŸ™‚

I don't like co-ed schools in Secondary schools because I'm afraid that those complicated BGR will distract the children from their studies. Thus, I don't think a lot of parents whose kids scored above 260 would put their kids in co-ed schools.

However, I'm not saying that NJC or any other co-ed schools are not good. I even put NJC for my DD's 3rd choice. :0

                  Good day!

Cheers[/quote]thank you , this clears the doubt. I would still put only first two choices above T-Score of my DD, because i went to Cedar open house & teacher told me not to waste 'first choice' on their school... What does it mean!!!

I guess ... Don't Play Play ..There is some catch .... Just play safe

Assume RI and HCI COP are 271 and 270 resp.

                      If A (270) has chosen RI(1st) and HCI(2nd), and
B (270) has chosen HCI(1st) and RI(2nd) and there's only 1 slot left in HCI, it will surely go to B, right?
And A will prob be allocated a school from his 3rd onwards, right?

                      PS

Oops! after reading some of the earlier posts, it looks like allocation is much much complex and above assumption is prob wrong!!

I m unsure if i have mistaken what is being posted here... I think all parents should be proud of their children regardless of which sch they are posted. The children are so innocent really. Don't mistaken... i'm not a 'sour grape' here as both my children did exremely well to go to top school shoich has COP higher than VJ. Having said that... in sum, the choices we made should be based on the the kind of value added edn the children can receive and not to be 'proud about it of not'.

                        James Ang:
Imagine if your child goes to NJC in sec 1, someone ask, which school did your child go to, answer will be \"NJC\", then the person will be impressed, 'Wah sec 1 go to top JC already ah, mix with the other top JC student peers.\" Isn't this a pretty picture of a proud parent? Be imaginative. πŸ˜„

I don't know if there is sec 1 IP for VJC yet (I think VJ wanted to start a small IP class with VS's agreement after high level nego), otherwise even better, sec 1 in VJC, lagi best! πŸ˜„

Also the boys won't need to wear shorts, but wear long pants in Sec 1, looking smart in VJC uniform. 😎
