      Thanks Piggy [sorry can't resist 😉 ].

Good recommendation. DS has read most of that series already. He finds them funny. You've any recommendation for non-HYPY books?

What are about 君伟上小学by 王淑芬? P1 and P2 are with han yu pin yin. P3 to P6 are without. Very funny book too. Available in the library.
        三年级花样多, 四年级烦恼多, 五年级意见多, 六年级怪事多
        P3 to P6 --- suitable for P3, P4

Another interesting serie is 超级搞怪汪小小 by 陈磊
        1。魔力钱罐 2。我和死党 3.挣零花钱 4.Q爸Q妈 5.我爱我班
No han yu pin yin. Available in the library. Suitable for P3, P4

Another one is 皮皮鲁总动员 by 郑渊洁. (Adventure story )
        1. 象鼻子牛的故事
        2. 大侦探乔麦皮
        3. 罐头小人
        4.红汽车历险记
        etc.
I think for this serie, there are hanyupinyin and without hanhupinyin version.
Also available in the library. The hanyupinyin version are suitable for P2 and P3.

Your list is really helpful. Just visited Tam's blog again and together with your list, think there'll be more than enough choices for ds to borrow from the library in future. Thanks friend 🙂

Just a couple of simple quick questions.

Between 淘气包马小跳 & 笑猫, which is more difficult? I've only seen 笑猫.

Also once a kid is done with these 2 series, any other interesting series to recommend [preferably by different authors]?

            Thanks.
Hi, if I do not remember wrongly, dang dang has classified 马小跳 series for P4 and 笑猫 series for P3.

If the kid has finished this two series, then I would think they should have no problem to reading novels like 卫斯理 series or 陆小风传奇 etc

              Hi Tamarind,

Thanks for creating this thread. My kid and I have benefitted a lot from your sharing of Siwukuaidu books. We are now at Book 6 and my kid is kinda disappointed that we are near completing all the books.

I have asked in another thread and i hope other parents don’t mind me asking this again. What are some books that we should use after graduating from Siwukuaidu so as to continue the reading habit and learning more new words? Thanks in advance.

                Hi bluepanda,

I feel that any good short stories will do.

This is how i taught my 6yo son. He was not keen in Peter & Jane and Montessori method. Therefore, i bought magic school bus (10bks a box which available in popular) to taught him as well as other I CAN READ series and other good stories.

I apply the same to chinese.

My son is in book 3 of SIWUKUAIDU now and doing well.

                    Hi,

Any recommendation in how to teach a P4 chinese? My DS starting learning chinese in K2 and till now he couldn’t catch up with the school syallbus. Currently, he is in a chinese learning ctr but I think the once a week lesson doesn’t seem to help him much. I am intending to coach him at home but not so sure how to go about it. Any recommendations?

Suggest you might start with bringing him to the library n get him to enjoy the Chinese story books first, you might also consider to borrow or buy those Chinese comics .... Once u ignite their love for the subject .... The rest will be easy .... Focusing on drilling n rote learning of course is faster to see result but there might be a long term price to pay ... For our dd, Chinese is a subject that we let her learn in fun only ... N she loves the subject n nvr need a day of tuition... (Dd in p5 this yr)Enjoy

I work with DS on the chinese websites recommended by school such as Zhishiboa, moe's recommeded chinese website under the student resources and his elearning website etc.

I realized boys cannot sit patiently just to study chinese. As most of them like to work on computer, might as well go to these websites for revisions. I sit with him as a guide and give a watchful eye so that he will not go onto \"other\" websites. Hence nowaday he is more willing to study chinese as it is less \"dry\" now. 😉

He also likes to work on the games after revison. They revises characters learning through a series of short games. DS starting to like the short chinese story. :rahrah:

For me as long as he is interacting with chinese, i am happy.Sometime after we finished, i'll just let him work on other things with the computer for another half hour. I am minful not to let him stay online too long because i am worried he will get addicted. 😓 to computer......didn't want him to stay at the computer all day. There is definitely life away from PC... :please:
