Hi,
Just to share.
My DD loves ballet so she wants to pursue it further. Therefore, we are considering DSA route. Like most parents here faced, my DD would not attain Grade 5 by P6. It was really demoralising when I learnt this fact.
Yr2013-DD(born in yr 2006) P1, so took the Pre-Primary exam in Yr2014 Mar.
After calculation, she could only attain Grade 4 by P6. So I spoke to the manager of the school and he told me he would check with her Tr if my DD can skip Grade 1 exam and take Grade 2 exam in Yr 2015. However, there are certain things to note. If she is allowed to skip Grade, she would be required to take more than 1 lesson (more lessons means more $$) in order to push her up.
After consultations, Tr gave the green light for DD to skip but DD need to do lesson thrice a week in order to catch up with those who had already in Grade 2. Tr also mentioned that if she couldn’t catch up then Tr won’t recommend her to take the Grade 2 exam. After 6 months, she finally caught up (phew!). Now able to revert back to normal ( 1 lesson for training and 1 lesson for coaching for exam) since exam is in 6 months time.
Maybe DD is lucky to have good Trs to push her. But I think she put in a lot of effort by practising on her own at home.
Parents who wished to pursue DSA route for their child should speak to their Trs or ballet schools.Just need to keep in mind that hard work need is required to build the foundation right.
Oh! just realise that there is also a recommended guide for training hours - about 70 hours each for Grade 1-3.
Keep Calm and Possibilities are Endless.

RE: Comparing English Enrichment Programmes
Hi,
My DS is with KRTC. So far he is very enthusiastic at going to the class but most probably is due to the teacher of the class.
I suggest that you check out the teachers in both schools to see their style of teaching. KRTC does offer trial class.
Hope its of some help. -

Any recommendation in how to teach a P4 chinese? My DS starting learning chinese in K2 and till now he couldn’t catch up with the school syallbus. Currently, he is in a chinese learning ctr but I think the once a week lesson doesn’t seem to help him much. I am intending to coach him at home but not so sure how to go about it. I agree with jacsplace.
Told DS to just try for it. As he is still having CA2, I didn’t want to put on extra stress on him. -
