      Dreamaurora:

ABRSM Practical Musicianship starts from grade 1 onwards and students need to improvise in this exam. Students can also opt for ABRSM Jazz grade 1-5, though unfortunately have to go to Malaysia to take the exam.

      http://www.abrsm.org/regions/fileadmin/user_upload/syllabuses/pracComplete10.pdf

ANZCA's classical syllabus is similar to the older Trinity grade 1-8 piano syllabus. Improvisation is not assessed in ANZCA's classical piano exams. What you are referring to is ANZCA's Modern Pianoforte exams in which students only focus on modern piano pieces and one of which must contain some improvised elements.

And AFAIK, there is no requirement that only an ANZCA certified teacher can enter students for exams, so I don't know where you are coming from. The same goes for other exam boards.

I am a believer in choices and each exam boards has its strengths and weaknesses. This is why good teachers are flexible and do not follow a syllabus rigidly. Like what jce has mentioned, all syllabuses can be fun provided the teachers can communicate and teach well.
Thanks for clarification. Yes you are right, I was referring to Modern Pianoforte exams.

As for teachers, if they are only ABRSM trained, i am not sure if they could cover effectively the Modern Pianoforte syllabus. Maybe some could, some not as well. At least from a \"consumer\" point of view.

My mobile 98776889. Price is negotiable. Very practical and economical way for children to try out before committing to buy piano !

                    Hi mums and dads

I'm intending to enrol my 4-yo into Yamaha's Junior Music Course. There's a new intake starting this October at the Yamaha Clementi branch, but the Monday 8pm class is currently empty. So I was wondering if there are any parents out there who might be interested in enrolling the kids for the same class. There needs to be a minimum of 6 kids to start. This is a parent-accompanied class.

                    http://my.yamaha.com/en/music_education/yamaha_music_school/system/junior_music/

These are the information I've gathered:

                    Registration - $32.10
                    Term fees - $321
Materials - $127.90 (can last for 2 terms)

Just in case you have any enquiries, Yamaha Clementi's number is 6740 9361. They have lessons too on Thursday evenings and weekends, but I am looking at Monday evenings specifically. Hopefully there's enough participants to start a Monday class. Thanks!
