Horror Stories - Tutor Recommendation Agencies
-
weatherbee:
i dun discriminate against male tutors if they can prove themselves to be good...Jessisme12:
I met pervetic tutor before too. My daughter was so freaked out. had to pull her out just after 1 lesson.
Oh my God!! Like what did he do? That one can report to police.
One thing - Always hire a female tutor for your daughter unless you are always at home during the tuition time.
however i must say that i do find more female tutors that are passionate and detailed in their teachings...
not trying to contradict myself, just dun want any parent here to lose a good tutor if they discriminate the male ones... who knows if he can teach very well and ur dd likes his teaching? -
Tuition centres are registered with MOE. You can complain to MOE if you find them cheating. But be carefull of those popular ones. Some are franchised. They may not be as good as the original operator.

we are not discussing about tuition centres, but tuition agencies and tuition coordinators...
for tuition agencies and tuition coordinators, u cannot complain them anywhere... even when u bring up to case, there is little they can do.... -

Some agencies just run like a \"match making\" agencies.. based on your request and the tutor availablilty.. whether can teach your kid or not depend on your luck. Some are good in their studies but unable to teach at all.. Also not sure if agencies checked their tutors qualification or not.Jenny Lam:

I just feel more safe if it's a female tutor as my daughter is usually at home alone in the weekday afternoons when she has her tuition. Imagine if anything happens, my daughter will have no help. Ok, I daren't imagine. -

try not to leave dd at home alone too often.. -
Sigh. Both husband and I are working and we did not want to hire domestic helpers (too many issues). Parents and in-laws aren’t free to help us look after (they got other grandkids) and my daughter is in Secondary school already. But because of that, I try to arrange for tuition or any lessons for my kids during weekdays afternoons so weekends are for us.

maybe weekday evening when 1 of u is at home?
i still think not safe for tutor and dd alone at home, no matter whether is female or male... not too healthy to leave dd at home all day too... -

Hm.. Ok. My daughter has the same tutor since primary school and I think that she's ok. No issue so far. As for leaving my daughter at home, she doesn't want to go to any student care or what. Any idea what I can do about it?weatherbee:
