Hi Guys, I'm a Year 2 student moving on to Year 3 next year.
The reason why there isn't such an option of Geog and Hist this year is due to the fact that very few people chose that particular combination to 'open' a new class catering for like-minded people with that interest.
Every cohort is unique in a different way and some cohorts may find triple science better than double science double humanities.
Anyway, I feel that DHS is a really lovely school with a friendly and cozy culture.
Many of the students and staff are approachable and will feel free to help when necessary
An exciting part of school life will be the numbers of 'pop quizzes' every student will experience especially for Math.
Quizzes will be dished out unexpectedly during random lessons without the student's knowledge and the grades will be calculated in the CA1/2. Thus, consistency is the key where the year 1s have to be alert and not wait for tuition.
Also,I personally feel that tuition is not really necessary.
Many of my peers (and myself) do not require tuition and can score quite well with GPAs of around 3.6+.
However, tuition is used to reinforce a student's learning of a subject and will be unnecessary for a student for subjects like Math during the school term as the quizzes will appear before the student go for the tuition lessons which is what parents do not want.
But the tuition lessons will be useful to kickstart a student's learning early.
LA is quite a challenging subject to score and it is in fact quite difficult to score an A although it is possible.
Geography is (supposedly) easier in Year 1 than Year 2 because Year 2 Geography requires students to write tons of essays but with practice, it is okay although students must be prepared to see their hands drop off after the Year 2 EOY exam. ><
On a final note, just listen up during lessons and when you have any questions, the teachers would be more than willing to spend time with you in the CONSULTATION ROOM
Consultations are a big thing in Dunman High (especially towards the exam periods) where (frantic) students will chase after their teachers and ask them tons of questions.
Anyway, you will not regret being a part of the Dunmanian Family
That is why there are people who got CO for RI,HCI & NYGH chose DHS.

Just saw the above from another post. DHS is ranked 3rd.
As as an alumus, I am proud of my alma matta. As a parent, I am pleased with the school's long tradition of good culture and environment.
For those who doubt DHS's performance compared to other JCs, the above data shall speak for DHS's strong standings among the JC and IP Schools. Please note that:
1. RJC and HCI have about 1200 students in each cohort. DHS has only about 400.
2. RI, RGS, HCI and NYGH has COP around 260. DHS COP was about 257.
3. RJC, HCI and VJC take in top O Level students. DHS does not take part in O level admission.
4. DHS has a very short history of A level compared with the others except RVHS.
I wish the above infomation address that DHS SH is equally good as other top JCs. In fact, DHS shall be considered as a JC which can open up to other students after their O level exam.
DHS add values to its students academically and in character building. -

Can anyone share his/her view comparing Victoria School, Dunman High and Temasek Junior College - e.g. in terms of IP programme, CCA achievements, the school environment and culture, etc?
I think dunman high is the best as it has the biggest area to study and the pupils there are taught to be polite,They do not commit any crimes and hands in their work on time. they have quite a large number of gold archeivements. The students there work very hard to get good results and does not slack.The school environment is quite mordern with kongzi in their garden which is perhaps located in the middle of the school. Their school is rich in both chinese and english culture but I do not know how to explain in words. Their IP programme is almost the same as other IP schools but provides a better way of learning by giving projects every week and ask them till they understand what they were taught.The teachers there are very strict and will not hesistate to school if the students talk unnessarily during the lessons.Their talent development proggramme cossist much more compared to TJC and Vs.They also organise camps almost every month if I am not wrong.I hoped my son to go to Vs and if I were you,I would put dunman high as 2nd choice and vs as first choice

hello. I'm a P6 student, and I intend to apply for dunman with aggregate 252+2. I'm still short of 2pts from COP. If I fail, what are the chances of getting in if I do appeal? I don't have a lot of achievements but I go for Maths Olympiad classes from P4-P6, rather inclined to maths. Is NAPFA also a consideration cos' I got Gold for all three years. Thank You!

Hi, I have a question on logistics. What is the best way to get from a Circle Line MRT station to DHS?
From the map, I see a bus-stop right outside the school. But there is only 1 bus service, 158. Is this bus service frequent?
The bus-stop on Fort Road - how long do you take to walk there from DHS?
We are interested in DHS, but the journey there does not seem to be convenient?

Yes, Mountbatten Stn - walk abt 10~15 min. You can also take 158 outside the stn.

During term time, I believe the school has made special arrangement with SBS. During peak, there is an addition bus 158A looping between Aljunied Rd (Aljunied Stn) - Tanjong Rhu in the morning as well as in the afternoon during those hours when class are dismiss. Sometimes, you can also see these buses waiting along the road beside the school field.
From Fort Rd to DHS, I believe is abt 5~10 min walk. -
