COP 2012 - For Secondary Schools in 2013
-
WeiHan:
Is base on perception. I do consider the fact that EESIS is one point higher than last year. If you mention 10% is at 249 which is same as last year, then the COP for 24X schools should be about same as last year. High 25X and 26X schools will have COP 1 point higher.[/quote]
Is this base on perception or factual? Because the means remain at 200, top 3% at 262 and top 10% at 249, which is more or less similar to last year....Dreamgear:
The T-scores is definitely generally higher this year couple with the fact that there are 3000 more students. The COP of better schools will increase. I read that more than 40% of students have t-score more than 240. That mean the 24X schools are going to enjoy a boost also.
If you remember, 27X was so rare last year. This year, each schools count by dozens.
My feel is that o level cop for the new ip schools will go up due to the allocation of classes for the ip. These will have a flow over effect on 24x schools. Ip cop might start off lower than the VS 255 points cop due to more spaces available.
No idea on the high 258 and above schools as chances are many of the high scorers would have already dsa-ed into the schools..... -

I was asking around and if I am not wrong, if your child has been admitted to school which is not IS school, he/she will not get the EESIS regardless of his/her score since he won't be given a chance to select an IS school. Giving out the EESIS form to such student will be a waste of paper. Unless your child has not been offered any schools yet and he/she is good enough for an IP programme in an IS school, then he should get a EESIS form but then again, we are not sure what was the cut-off point here.EESIS is blind to gep or non-gep
isn't supposed to be given to the top one thirdth of the IP cohort in IS ?
if you have 285 but join NJC, then no EESIS for you because NJC is not IS
Just my thought. Anyway, my view is this, if gov wants to give you the EESIS, you will get it, if not, no point trying ways to get them as it's likely to be a waste of effort.

Yes. My DD classmate score 265 ,not from GEP. CO from RV received EESIS.
I don't think RV is an IS school. It's a SAP school. As such, don't think EESIS can be used here. I might be wrong but in the booklet, RV is not indicated as IS school. -
houselizard:
All students who meet the EESIS COP (which in this year is 262) is eligible for EESIS, regardless of whether you have a CO or not, whether the CO is from an IS or not. Whether you get to use EESIS award or not depends on whether you're in an IS, obviously, as this is a scholarship for IS.

So you can score 280 and get EESIS but decide to go to DHS for instance, you will not have the chance to use your EESIS bec DHS is not an IS.
By the way there's no waste of paper bec it's all printed on the same PSLE doc which all students receive. -
If a student who was awarded with EESIS but did not enrol in an IP sch, will moe give this scholarship to next available student (let say raw score 261) who take up IP sch?

No. -
dd normal meanstream with T-Score 263+3, PSLE Result doesn’t reflect the status of EESIS.
From my understanding, the status of EESIS only will make known after
announcing the S1 posting result for students who admitted to an independant school. -
Correct me if I am wrong but i think EESIS is awarded as follows:
Top one third successful applicants to Independent schools including GEPers who did not meet EESIS cutoff point. The following categories will not get EESIS:
- pupils who meet EESIS cutoff but did not choose an independent school
- GEPers who did not go to independent schools
- Bottom two thirds of independent school applicants. -
EESIS is offered to the top 3% of the cohort. It is reflected in your psle slip. It is only given to the Singaporean students within the top 3%. Even if you qualify, you can only use it in IS schools since the school fees in these schools are higher.

Upon the release of the PSLE results, pupils eligible for the EESIS will be informed. No application is required for the scholarship. Eligible pupils will be offered the EESIS, provided that:
* they have met the EESIS cut-off t-score (based on their PSLE t-score before any bonus points) and are admitted to an IS; OR
* they are eligible P6 GEP pupils who have met the P6 GEP promotion criteria and are admitted to an IS and enrolled in the IP of that school at S1.
Upon the release of the school posting results in December, pupils can check whether they have been offered the EESIS via the S1 Internet System (S1-IS). Pupils eligible for the EESIS who are admitted to secondary schools under the Direct School Admission Exercise (DSA-Sec) will also be offered the scholarship if they are admitted to an appropriate school and / or programme based on their eligibility. Pupils who are susequently admitted to an IS after the S1 Posting Exercise and have met the eligibility criteria will also be awarded the EESIS.
