Know of somebody (from mainstream) who scored 265+2 & was posted to one of the 2 classes. Not sure why???

Yes, in my son's class (one of the SBGE classes), they have students from mainstream with 25x also. I suspect they look at math and science grades. So far those I know all had A* for these 2 subj.

But don't be too bothered by these 2 classes, because like what Augmum said, they all sit for the same test and exams and same assignments. Only 1 diff I see is that for IH project they had an extra component.

By the way my son is in yr 2 now.

Oh....this is something new to hear abt ( with 25X).....thks for the info.

But if they will to look at Maths and Science grades,
there are many pupils with A* in Maths and Science in all classes, considering that there is quite a number of 26X scorers.

During my gal yr ( 2010 sec 1), pupils with 271 were also not placed in the 2 SBGE classes....

classes last year. But there are a couple of 25x. The only similarity is all of them got A* for the 2 subj.

But what u mentioned is quite true, with 27x, they should have at least 3A* if not 4. Hmm, really don't know how they group them :?

Anyway, in which ever class they are, they are all bright kids. 🙂

My dd’s teacher says every year a few students will fail HCL and end up doing O level Chinese. Is this O level Chinese the normal one ? Isn’t HCL also taken at O level ? If a pupil takes O level Chinese then must he do Chinese again at JC level ? Heard JC Chinese is very tough, tougher than HCL taken at year 4 !

My dd never did HCL at P6 or P5 … was told there are about 6/7 of such kids in our sec one !!
When teacher explained the syllabus and what the tests will cover she could not understand a thing. Please help ! Any one please translate here what is required or will be tested on ! Though she goes for tuition HCL but still…
Composition tests will be one on email and the long one is it narrative ? How to prepare ? Thank you for your wise answers.

Yes, those pupils who fail their HCL (Grade below C) will have to take normal CL instead of HCL.
Crucial yrs will be overall grade for end of yr2 and end of yr3.

Pupils who do not take HCL or fail HCL at \"O\" level will have to do it at JC level.

Not to frighten u, but to be forewarned.....
HCL standard in DHS is higher than the std of normal sec schs.
And the grading of essays will also be stringent....
eg, marks will be deducted for wrong characters and higher expectation of content.
Better to be mentally prepared for a big drop in marks at the initial stage, as compared to pri sch grading of CL essays....

It doesnt really matter whether the child takes HCL in pri sch or not,
What matters is the foundation/ std of his/ her CL....

Yes, there are writing of 1 email/ letter as well as 1 narrative essays or descriptive essays ( cant rmb which is for which yr).
The HCL teachers will tell the pupils what they can expect....

It will be after the CCA orientation wk.
Think total of 4 choices, 2 UG and 2 PA/Clubs
