Are u surprise with the result?

I quite shock leh. 1st I didn't expect PAP to lose. Secondly, I am shock that WP win so much. šŸ˜›

I expected WP or PAP to win by less than 5%. Thought WP have a slightly better chance to win due to the AIM case. A big surprise to most of us that WP won PAP by 11%!

My ESP (6th sense) told me one of the parties would get 50% and above, and a 52% was what came to my mind, and my feel was it was the blue team, but my heart was telling me not to get my hopes up, and my brains was telling me (are you sure? 50 and above? šŸ˜† ) Well, looks like my internal 3-cornered-fight, my ESP had won! šŸ˜†

I would have thought a prediction made at 12 noon just after booths open would hold more cachet than a prediction made at 9pm after polls closed? šŸ˜‰

MIW always have problems with bye elections, when was the last time they won an SMC by election? I think not since before JBJ.
When they started sorting out d votes at both counting centres, d number of votes were still close at 9 pm thereabouts.
It was much later at around 10 pm when reports were floated dat WP was pulling away in vote count.

While concur dat BE was a factor, but don't think dat factor alone caused a >13% swing.
Something more fundamental on d ground has changed.
It is telling dat, in d last rally, MIWS put up PM who spoke much longer than d candidate in defence of govt policies n there were three Malay speakers, including Halimah Y, who rallied.
Ministers n white MPs fanned out to distribute flyers to connect with d ground.
But those moves still didn't sway d ground n they got hammered by WP with a resounding victory.

So would last night's result accelerate national policies before 2016? 8 million instead of 7 million? More spouse to have more chilren? COE, Bus, MRT, property, gst? Anyone? šŸ˜‚

Dilution of votes in the last PE (presidential) was still fresh in people's minds. Maybe people didn't want history repeated. šŸ˜‚

We wld be going down a dangerous road if in order to stem d tide, d ruling party embarked on populist but wrong policies to win votes.
d ppl of PP n HG rightly rejected pork barrel politics in previous elections.
me agree with WP stance dat long-term goals must be given time to bear fruits.
Wat is missing is d MIWs apparently has lost touch with d ground.

:scratchhead: more spouse? How many Laura would then be enough?

This by election will be a great example for Mr Heng to assure kiasu parents that being in elite school is not everything.

Elite scholars in the garment only know how to handle problem with money. The worst money policy they made so far is to turn the young couples into beggars by taking other Singaporean money to give birth. Wat a shame.
The second worst sinful shAmeful money policy is telling the really needy that the garment does not want to turn our country into a wat nonsense social welfare stare.

It is so good tat PE introdue a OP to help these elites to wake up.

An MP primary role is the people's representative.. A minister's role is to help run the country.

Hence, we need a highly qualified person to be a minister.. but not necessarily for an MP.

It is more import for an MP to be someone with empathy and compassion, and not qualifications..

Seems that the pple have started to realise this..
                      exactly Limlim šŸ†’

the PAP obviously still has not realise that many of their MPs boh cho engkai cho aye kang.
The MPs primary roles and duties have not been executed wholeheartedly for far too long, and WP has shown and led the way with their earlier victories.

local issues like Rivervale Plaza multiple delays and inconveniences, lack of amenities, road improvements, etc has largely been neglected or dragged on unnecessarily.

I remembered in younger days, MPs are ever so helpful, even the likes of LimBH and such. Now ? a handful yes, the majority ? kanasai. many so-called high flyers flown in just to hold high positions and leave the MP duties mainly to the grassroot people , suxxx

I predict more of the same in 2016, unless the MIWs clean house and buck up.

I'm not a 100% supporter of PAP BUT low birth rate is every Singaporean's problem and I agree that we cannot be a welfare state.
