      wamin:

helplessmum, both of my kids are ASD :yikes: .
My daughter have words but she don't like to use them (only when she is in mood) and i think at this moment she cannot associate them with real life. On my birthday when everyone was signing happy birthday she said \"Happy day\" i was like 😢. But she like to say papa and mama.

For my son when he was around 1+ he used papa but since then no words at all, all babbling. But recently he start pointing to thing he want me to say and when he playing some game he will look at my face and will wait till i say the name of the thing he is pointing at.

Behavior wise they are quite ok, at time my daughter can be upset when i don't accompany her (normally i work from home and have to be up till mid night or even late and she just pop in my room and want me to accompany her :(, and she don't want my wife :slapshead: ). and if i leave her alone she will cry and don't stop for hours :(.
wamin, this could be a good opportunity to kick start your son to speak more words. Instead of you saying the name of the thing he is pointing at , you could get him to say the name of the game before you hand it to him to play. But of course before that you would need to model the word first and teach him to speak it first.

This is one of the ways to get the child to start off with speech and language. Slowly one word becomes two, two becomes more and more and eventually sentences will come.

      Hope this helps.

helplessmum3, not that highly educated :). just my master degree is eating dust in some papers.

ImMeeMee, yah that is my goal. I am already happy he start looking at my lips when i say something, last time he even never bother looking at my face šŸ˜ž but now he is making effort. I am hoping he can see how i deliver words and he can copy them.
Just to share, he also have Hypothyroidism and on medication since he is born. Although at one time doctor said he is making enough thyroid but looking at his condition it is not wise to stop medication.

Is he growing well? How did u find out? My son is also on medication for partial growth hormone deficiency. Mine is probably caused by a smaller than normal pituitary gland.

                He is growing well.
I bring him every 6month for his blood work and his doctor told me he is growing base on his age peer.
Only problem is he is very picky on his food and last time he like to eat french toast šŸ˜ž and was gaining weight. But now he is better (stopped his french toast).

That's great! Mine is very picky with food and hardly growing. Sigh. He now looks like the starving children from Africa. I'm bringing him for his bone age test next month, hopefully will be good.

You should ask your doctor to write those gummies (also available in syrup) for your kid. My sister in law had those for her daughter and he is getting fat now :). I have name of the syrup, if u want i can PM you.
