Hi Mommies,
I looking for a music teacher to come my house for my DD ( she's 5 y.o and currently attending junior music course @ Yamaha). Can you recommend some good teacher who willing to come our place with reasonable fees? Thanks in advance.

When engaging a new piano teacher, do he or she needs to bring along his or her cert so I can know the teacher qualification? What to expect during the first lesson?

Thanks Dreamaurora for your reply!
Generally speaking, the more qualified teachers with better track records often conduct lessons from home studios or own music schools. Though there are also good piano teachers who travel to students' homes for practical reasons.Ahchan88:
Dear all,
Is it better to start piano lesson for my 8 years old daughter from music sch or better to get 1to 1 teaching at my house?
My daughter is active but also interested in music so thinking to let her learn piano to train her patient.
1. I am staying in Punggol, any recommendation of good teachers or good music sch with reasonable fees.
2. What are the rates for beginner?
3. How to define a good teacher? How do I choose and consider if the teacher is suitable for my daughter?
4. Is Full time teacher or more mature teacher (above 30 years old) a better choice?
Thanks in advance!
2.
The rates for beginner can range all the way from $20 to $100 depending on the qualification and track record of the teacher.
3.
A good teacher should be technically skilled in teaching, performing and able to connect on the same level as the student; paper qualification is secondary. This just my opinion and you may have different ideas on what constitute a good teacher.
4.
Full time piano teachers will be more secure in the long run as there is a much lesser chance of them stopping teaching because of reasons such as wanting to focus on their full-time careers. Age and number of years teaching is not as important as track record. A younger skilled teacher with track record of producing competent students with good performance and exam results is definitely more desirable than an older one who is just going through the motion and producing average result.
After discussed with my wife, we prefer to have teacher coming to our house (Punggol) for teaching.
If anyone has any good recommendation on teachers (prefer full time female teacher), pls let me know. Please let me know the fees as well.
My gal is easily distracted so I suppose the teacher has to be patient and more strict to her.
We prefer to have lessons on either Mon, Wed or Fri; time between 7pm to 9pm.
Once again, thank you! -
