      @Dawnljh

Besides grades based on school, must have track record. Eg like National Children’s championships by sjf. They have one coming up in Nov for 6-12yrs. Must be medalist at minimum

If ur kid is not alredy in Judo, may not be the best idea to start solely for DSA. If he is already, train harder to convince he has ability to get a gold in nsg C div

Kid was at the NSG these few days and she said that NJC gave out DSA offers via letters to some students? That's fast? I thought applications start next week.
Better to reconfirm before posting such claims. DSA is centralised so they could not have given out any offer yet. What likely happened is they are trying to invite the kid to apply, assuring they will be favourably considered? This is presuming the academics are acceptable

Hi, I thought that as long as you qualify for posting group 3 (Express), ie AL20 the school will accept you ?

That is true if u have been already given the CO or WL (eligible to convert). Just need AL20 in psle.

My points were based on selection process ie P4/5/6 midyr score. If student is a national champ but achieved academic average of AL15 (random figure), it may not be feasible to apply to DSA judo in RI or HC.

      1. Find the teacher in charge during the openhouse and get their inputs.
      2. Good to speak to the school appointed coach for advice. I presume ur boys alrdy in Judo right? So their current coaches should know some things, else the dojo overall head coach.
      3. If can, just drop by the NSG la to have a feel. Unfortunately C Div Judo in July (Hougang Sec). A and B Div on 15-17 May in OCBC arena.

Hi all, any one knows about DSA Judo to HC,RI,SJI? My son has AL13 for P5 EOY. He is quite good in his Judo, brown belt, won gold in all club competitions. Should he even try HC and RI ?
Hi there. AL13 may be slightly higher than the expected grade for either HC and RI. Minimally must be top3 in the Nationals and deemed capable to handle the IP course. Iirc, last year (sec1 in 2023) RI took in ZERO for Judo and 2 only in 2022. So it means even if u are the best, no guarantees.

Perhaps AL13 can be mitigated by midyr P5 or P4? So… no harm just try lah. Big question is does ur son train in SA Judo (HC) or TDJ (RI) or neither? Coach can help advise and speak to the teacher-in-charge to put up their respective case.

On the other hand, SJI (under SOJ) may have higher probability of acceptance. Hope this helps and all the best!

can ask something? if DSA using leadership, the child will end up in uniform grps?
Hi. Have to check with respective schools. In general should not be. For RgS, no cca commitments for DSA community leadership. They just have extra roles on values-in-action project. Also will be allocated “Community problem-solving” during research modules. (something like that)

    • RE: IP vs O level

At end of Y2, an IP student would have covered Y3 topics alrdy right?

I suppose schools have their own assessment for the transfer, surely will also take into consideration whether the kid can do some catching up on their own. I wonder what is the rate of such cases too…

      Answer to 2 >>

If u accepted for DSA, only need to make the grade (Eg AL20 for express)
But if ur query is … do schools sets internal cutoff upfront, of course they do but will not be made know to public. Although DSA objective is to consider the special talent, schools need to be mindful the kid is able to keep up with their syllabus and standards (especially IP)

      3>>
No they won’t. You have to spy for inside info to get this 😅. Even if the school internally set aside 2-3 slots for a particular domain, they may accept zero if none meets all their requirement ( probably applies more to sports)

      Hi!

I was reading through the MOE DSA a website and I still need some clarification and I hope I can find my answers here

      1. According to MOE, we are allowed to submit up to 3 choices and 3 DSA areas. However applications to schools such as SOTA, School of Science & Tech, NUS, SG Sports School is separately done and not via MOE portal. My question is: does that mean one gets to submit 3 names + SOTA or would an application for SOTA also be counted towards the 3 choices allocation?

      2. Is there a cut off points for DSA? I googled and some schools are silent on the this while some say so long as you make it for express cut off (ie posting group 3 I think or AL22?)

      3. Do schools typically share how many spots are available for a sport DSA, example tennis?

      Thank you!
