How is your gals coping in school with friends? It seems my gal has problem finding friends in school. She suppose to have a close friend from pri school who is in the same class now but the close friend now has a new bff. The rest of the gals already form their own click. So most of the time dd is alone during recess.

My friend said maybe becos dd has not reach puberty yet and her physical appearance is still a little gal (ok, she looks like p4/p5) and she dun hv a common topics with the rest of the gals. Gals at her age now seems to goo goo ga ga over boy bands, kpop and boys. But dd is not interested in all these. She is a bookworm. I worried she will be forever alone without any friends thru out her secondary years.

P.S. Her classmates are nice to her during lessons, just that they already form their own click and will go recess together. Dd find it hard to blend in with them.

my dd was the only girl from her primary school in her new secondary school. i told her, blending in isn't the most utmost important. there is no need to conform to the whims and likes of the majority of girls, or maybe could be considered the \"in\" crowd. she would have to be sure what she likes, who she really is, be confident, be kind and open. be gracious.

who says recess must be with a big crowd? there isn't anything wrong in having a quiet meal with oneself. however, that being said, is your dd always bent and lost in her latest book that she ignored the world around? perhaps, ask her to show interest in the \"others\" and i'm sure she'll attract friends who are interested in the same things as she does. in the meantime, :hugs: to your dd. hope she'll find a good buddy soon.

bitchymum, :hugs: to u too, our girl has grown up. they have to face their own world. we can't worry too much about things we have no control over.

:thankyou: for your input icy_mama. I did told her to show some interest in the gals' talk even though at times she find their conversation (she said they only talk abt boys, boy bands, kpop  )

Yes, i must keep reminding myself my gal is a teenager now. I must learn to let go. Learn to let her deal with her issues and learn how to survive in this reality. 😢

I hope she able to find her buddy soon too ..

I am still thinking hard how to improve dd’s comprehension cloze and OE comprehension. She did very very badly in these areas.

Yes, agreed this is what they were after. If you substitute \"weight\" in the question wherever you see \"gravity\" then you will get to the right answer. It's very poorly worded question though - I've never seen \"gravity\" used like this in a sentence and surely it would not qualify as an exam question without more precise wording?

From the point of view of my dc who is in P6, answer is (1). At their level, they are only taught that gravitational force acting on any object on Earth is the same. When they see the word 'gravity acting on something', they would only think of gravitational force. They are not taught the difference between gravitational force & acceleration.
Wonder if SEAB will set such a question and penalise pupils who know 'too much'. My dc school will.

Careful... see PSLEguru's post again - I was only quibbling with the way they have used the term gravity. If they had said gravitational force, the force on an object resulting from gravity then there is no debate - it varies with the mass of the object; but it is the same per unit mass: approx 9.8N/kg at the surface. (N/kg are equivalent to acceleration, m/s^2.)

The question really should have used the term gravitational force, IMO.[/quote]My dd chose 1. Her reason: it is a fact that the gravity acting on both object is the same. But the gravitational potential energy is different according the mass of both the spring and the objects.

Sorry, I think I didn’t state clearly … she scored badly since P5 for those areas I mentioned. We keep practising the exam papers but there is not much improvement. I dunno how to improve on these areas. She already reads a lot and she reads a different types of books like Percy Jackson series, The Hunger Games series, I Am Number Four series etc.

    • RE: Q&A - PSLE English

My gal scored very badly for her English Prelim. Her English which was supposed to be her strongest subject becomes her weakest subject. Her weakest area is the vocabulary, comprehension cloze and comprehension OE. She is an avid reader, she reads a lot. So we are really puzzled why. Any tips to improve at least a little now especially on comprehension cloze and OE.

      Really in panicked mode.
