2 of the 3 questions asked in written response last year were :-

What does PIER stand for ?
Something along the line of being green, think it was how to make your home more green.
Test was in English. DS recalled that one can write as much or little as u want 🙂
Can any parents share the link to EMB and the userid and password. My DS said he has forgotten about the link and did not want to probe too much as everynight he was drown in his piles of homework and last night complete all his homework by 1am.

He told him his classmate either go school earlier to do homework, or do during recess or inform teacher that he will stay behind after school to complete them. Just to gather some feedback if the same is happening to your DS class.[/quote

Hi-five Sama
I share the same feeling... My DS received tons and tons of hmwk... Some of the subjects, the teachers did not even go thru the topics & expect them to do researchs & self-study... Furthermore, he had just recovered from a bout of fever that had spread across the entire school yet there isn't any high alert. Sometimes I pitied him... Hoping to reduce amount of stress but reject the ideas... As ultimately he has to learn to adapt to such lifestyle for the next 6 years. At times I am wondering whether I have chosen the right choice of putting him in this school. Any parents having the same feelings please share? :imdrowning:
Hi Lion_king,
Finally someone shares the same thought. For me, I just don't understand why the school emphasize some much on the chinese songs. DS has been worried about being sent to Q class if he can't master the songs. Even the adults have problem reading the chinese characters. My DH and I are seriously thinking of transferring him to another school.
If the music teacher said the threat in jest, and if we have HCI teachers perusing this forum, please reassure the students that this cannot be for real. Else we will become the laughing stock should this 'news' be circulated amongst the other schools. 😓

Saw a number of students wearing greyish trainers. Is it just during the holidays or are they allowed on school days ? Bata / north star shoes wear off so quickly, trying to find alternatives. Would white shoes with black or blue stripes be acceptable ?

Does it mean that the kids will be informed the consortium they were allocated before they purchased their books. Are there any differences in the books they use for the different consortiums?

According to the bookshop lady the books are the same across the 4 consortiums for 2012 sec 1.

My nephew from hci int’l gave me the school bookshop number so I called. The lady who answered the call was very chirpy. She suggested that sec 1 kids go next week as she is short handed currently. She said no difference in text this year between isparks n other consortiums which makes it easier for her. Her operating hours are from 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday.

Good point, did your DS HCI WL materialize into CO?
Yes. We were also told earlier at the parents symposium that those at the top half of their wait list will be guaranteed a place.

He score 258, posted to DHS...
You think it is worth appealing to HCI as well?

When I compared the 2 schools, I thought perhaps HCI may be stronger at the college level, having had a longer track record at preparing students for their A levels. DS scored 257 but he opted for HCI (with WL) and gave up DHS CO at the DSA stage.

If it's 两个朋友之间的不愉快。 I think should be 消除,两个朋友之间不愉快的心情
then should be 改变. IMO the subject in these 2 sentences are different. One is the 不愉快(unhappiness), the other is 心情(the mood).

Just my thoughts.
That is what I thought too. DS said he did not remember reading \"的心情\" but he is not a careful person so maybe someone here with a good memory can try to recall what the sentence actually is.

Lots of kids especially boys will not feel stress about exams and results. not at P6 age.

We should just let them be themselves and just push them when necessary.
No point adding extra stress on them as it's not going to help.
Agree with you totally. Often letting go a little yields surprising results. We took a while to decide whether to bring DS to the Linkin Park concert last Sunday. I am glad we did. He was so thrilled being able to see the band perform up close and thanked us by working extra hard before and after the event without being pushed.

Questions like permutating deceiving to deceptive; transforming past perfect in the S&T to simple past; collocating pain with pronounced, etc... are all rather tricky... SEAB seems to be upping the ante...
Shouldn't the transformation be from past perfect to present perfect ?
