I think is best to consult neighbourhood dentist rather than go to NUH unless the child has very complicated teeth structure that needs to be done. Me, being inexperienced in this field has caused my DS front teeth to be not \"aesthetically aligned\". Sounds bad, isn't it? 😢

Sharing my experience for teenager bracers treatment. Googled online for quite a while and visited a dentist near our place. Best to find a dentist near your place so that your DD/DS can make subsequent visits on their own + day that can accommodate you. I noticed most dentist station at the clinic twice a week and I have to get one that does not falls on their tuition days. First impression matters, my contact with the clinic assistant (at one of the branches) helps me find my current Orthodontist. Clinic assistant is friendly and knowledgeable... she is able to give advice for both my teenagers for which I'm impressed.

My 15yrs old DD has serious grinding teeth problem that caused her tooth to \"crack\" and sore jaw in the morning + baby tooth still intact and adult tooth hiding in the bone + front teeth gap. HPB dentist recommended to fix the baby tooth before getting a night guard to fix her grinding problem. BP Orthodontist (Ortho) recommended to extract the baby tooth and do a bloody cut on the area to reveal the adult tooth follow by braces. Procedure is to let the adult tooth grow out gradually on its own... Worst scenario if the adult tooth do not grow out in 6-8mths, Ortho will need to cut the bone again to pull the adult tooth out slightly follow by bracket. Treatment will probably take about 15mths or so.

As for my 14yrs old DS, his upper set of teeth is not aligned with bottom and tends to bite on his inner cheeks and subsequently lead to ulcers. Sch dental mobile attended to him and referred him to NUH to get one tooth extracted on the upper jaw which is parallel to another tooth... no information was given if that was an adult or baby tooth, simply asked DS if he wants to have it extracted. When checked by BP Ortho, he said the adult tooth has been extracted and that's why teeth is not aligned. He will need to get bracers to align his teeth to improve his biting points and fix crooked teeth. Treatment will probably take 12mths or so.

It is recommended to do bracers after all adult teeth are out and our Ortho do not recommend to extract any tooth at all. 1st treatment: ~$950 for consultation, x-ray, teeth mould and equipment sterilization. 2 days before fixing bracers, required to go for scaling, polishing and insert 8 blue spacers to allow some gap, this cost ~$95. 2nd treatment: ~$1.1k for fixing of braces and sterilization. Subsequent visit about ~$130. The basic cost should be ~$4500. Extra note to be taken: Wisdom tooth has to be removed once it grows out or else it will affect your teeth alignment even after bracers removal. For guys, is FREE if you have it extract while doing NS. Require to wear retainers for life at night to maintain teeth alignment. Invisalign is not recommended for teenagers if they don't have fully grown adult teeth + they might lose the invisalign due to the frequent removal of aligners in-between meals... I'm using this now

      c) When the school doesn't allow parents to speak to all the teachers during the PTM. And when they have just one PTM a year - what about end of the year review? Isn't that another opportunity to take stock of the situation?
      ...

Just curious. Do you know of any schools that allow you to speak to ALL the teachers during PTM? A teacher may be your child's Science teacher but this teacher may also be the form teacher of another class and hence she needs to meet the parents of her students, too. No?

My children are not in this school, BTW. I am just curious about this point because it was highlighted by a couple of members here.

If there is no queue for the teacher, you can have a quick talk for 5 mins. At WSPP, we can only book online PTM slots to meet up with the form (can be any subject teacher) and Chinese teacher only. This year we only get to meet the form or assistant teacher during mid year. They will let you know which subjects the kids are weak in and get them to buck up. :imconstipated:

      Hi Sidrobson

I understand how you felt. My P5 child practically failed all the papers this year! It becomes a setback to them. We as parents were totally shocked as I don’t expect my child to fare so badly that they can’t even pass 1 subject. Even with tuition, they still failed. There must be something wrong! I wanted to pull them out 2 yrs ago but hubby objected. So the decision to stay put is totally a bad idea. For now, we just have to struggle with it! :xedfingers: :?:

Complain and get ready to get marked :stupid: :stupid:

Accidents happened and not handled appropriately, we also cannot complain.

Don't complain when serious things happened to your kids :xedfingers:

I noticed whenever negative feedback were given, more KiasuNewbie popped up out of nowhere :? :?

Teacher Clifford and so many other nice teachers left. Such a pity. Any idea primary school has someone trained in first aid? I think this school don’t seemed to have.

If you have a choice now, choose Greenridge as what OKTeo & parentfor2 has mentioned. Teachers turnover is high. Extra remedial given to students to win competition / failed exams / for those who cannot catch up. Has lots of homework. Kids get stressed out until cry. Frequent change of class in a day for different subjects.
