Hi
Really appreciate some advice and suggestions on whether and which piano I should buy. When choosing a piano, what should I take into account?
My girl is 5 years old and she has been learning piano for 1 year. We have been renting a piano all this while. As she continues to show interest in learning, We are thinking of buying her a proper piano. However, both me and my hubby do not play the piano and we are frankly, quite lost on where to start. Also, we are not fixated on exams and will not expect her to take them (unless she wants it). What we want is for her to learn and progress on a skill that she can enjoy music for life at her pace.
Her current school is recommending that we buy refurbished Yamaha U1 piano (made and refurbished in Japan, 30 years old) at about $6K.
To me, i thought it is high price to pay for such an old piano. :(. I googled and saw a shop selling same piano, brand new at $8800 while Yamaha school sells it at ard $10k!!
I wonder why the significant price differences. What are the things I should watch out for?
Thank you.

RE: All About Primary Schools' Balloting History
Thank you so much for the speedy replies!! I am a SC aiming for Phase 2C and I was hoping to see data to confirm my belief that SCs rarely need to ballot. Even in an exceptional year that SCs need to ballot, it is for those > 2km.
The link is very useful and shed more light. I can see 2017 and before. The missing data point is now 2018, the dragon year. -
RE: All About Primary Schools' Balloting History
Hihi
May I know where can I find the balloting history for Phase 2C St Margaret Primary school? I have the recent years but do not have Year 2018 and before. I like to know if SCs are subjected to ballot before 2019. Thanks. -

Hi
Does anyone have CHIJ Kellock PSLE results this year to share please? Any data or info will be useful to me. CHIJ Kellock is one of my top choices when I register my girl next year. I need some information to help me make the final decision. Thank you so much! -

RE: St Margaret's Primary
Hi all,
I am considering SMPS vs CHIJ Kellock for Phase 2C and I am currently out of 2KM for both schools. Am choosing these schools because they are girls school, and are affiliated to secondary schools.
If SMPS is a better school, then I would consider moving to be nearer the school to improve my chances. If no difference btw the two, then I might choose CHIJ Kellock as I understand SCs have high chances to get in.
Does anyone have any views on how these two schools compare? Thank you! -
RE: Raffles Girls' Primary
Hi SunnyJane
Yes we also want an all girls school. But the good schools (SCGS and RGPS) are v hard to get in at Phase 2C even if we live within 2KM. Will need to ballot.
