DeepSoul:I BF my firstborn in a Manduca carrier when outside. Super convenient and kept baby happy, he was the type that needed to nurse frequently and he hated sitting in a stroller.Hi, im new here.currently giving my 7mth old baby BM. Supply has always been an issue to me all these while. Only recently i think my supply is a tad better as my LO has started to take solid food.
Anyone ever tried BF in a carrier before when going out?

anyone knows where to get lululemon(athleta) sports clothing in Spore? or online (they use HKG dollar on Athleta web)or any better place? i got mine in OZ thking to get more.. really very good quality sports wear. Thanks to share if you know
I walked past a Lululemon store in Ngee Ann City couple weeks ago. Was surprised to see it, didn't know they set up stores in SG already.
It's in the same area as the famous macarons, maybe a level above & just in front of the escalator. -
RE: Kids knowing their dialects. What is your take?
CatMoon, I grew up similar circumstances as you. My parents spoke Malay when they did not want us to understand what they were saying and used English to communicate with us kids. In school had to take Mandarin because we are classified as Chinese but no one in the family could teach us so we started Mandarin tuition in primary school just to pass the subject. Mandarin lessons were stressful as teachers were hostile & would jeer at us saying we are Chinese how come don’t know Mandarin. Really felt angry & discouraged as a kid in primary school being singled out in front of the class every time and my parents just left it to the school system to handle so my relationship with Mandarin was terrible.
Now, my in-laws speak Hokkien & Mandarin, very little English. My hubby teaches my son Mandarin & some Hokkien. I speak English & a tiny bit of Malay to him also. So far his strongest language is English followed by Mandarin. Hope to keep the learning process positive for him so that he will pick up as many languages as he can while grandparents are still around. -
RE: The Enrichment Classroom - Discussion
Reviving this thread because I noticed this centre when walking by Hong Kah North CC and saw a few strollers parked outside.
Any other reviews to add on about this centre? -
RE: Parent toddler accompanied classes
There’s usually a good mix of local & expat children. You can also see who has RSVP’ed on the Meetup website for the playgroup to get an idea of who is going.

RE: Parent toddler accompanied classes
I'm using http://www.meetup.com/find/ to find drop-in playgroups. There is a mix of those that require you to purchase a package and those that are just drop-in so make sure to read the descriptions carefully

RE: Parent toddler accompanied classes
He will be 3 years old in November. He has liked every playgroup that I’ve tried with him, but his favourite activity is song & dance so any playgroup that uses that method is a hit with him. In the beginning (I started taking him to playgroups when he was 2 years old) he was a bit shy but now he knows what to expect and listens eagerly and participates happily without any prompting from me. Now he is one of the older kids in the playgroups because most children are attending childcare at his age.
I’ve heard of the others that you mentioned but have not tried because I need our schedule to be flexible so I’m not able to commit to a playgroup that requires payment by term. I tend to go for the playgroups that allow walk-ins and pay only when we attend. -
RE: Parent toddler accompanied classes
What kind of classes are you looking for? My boy isn't in school yet so I bring him to playgroups once or twice a week depending on our schedule.
So far we've tried playgroups for Mandarin (singing & activities), music (English) and music + physical play at http://www.gymboree.com.sg/ in Harbourfront. -
RE: Club Only Child Club
So happy to have found this thread. I have a son who's turning 3 years old in November and so far we are planning to have just one child.
I do wonder about having another child (I'm from a family of 3 children, hubby is from a family of 2 children) but financially we can only handle 1 child right now.
For pros and cons, I'm still undecided and I can see valid points on both sides (only child vs multiple children) but sticking with the 'only child' route for now. Of course since my son is turning 3 years old this year, the next CNY spent visiting relatives I can anticipate the 'So time to have another one yet?' questions. Just going to smile and give neutral answers, my family planning is none of their business afterall
