spicy:Aiya, happens all the time la, cannot expect the school wifi system to be up all the time... But my dd say wifi working fine leh?For the past 2 weeks or so, some of the classes encountered issues with the school WIFI ie cannot connect their iPads to the WIFI.
The problem still persists to-date and it is not rectified at all. The admin office confirmed that the school is aware but unable to elaborate more on the matter.![]()
This IT problem has caused much inconvenience to the girls, who have to resort to tethering their smartphones using 3G/4G. I dread to see the phone bill at the end of the month !!! :yikes:
In this technological age, how can the school allow this to happen ?

Hahaha, you know I don't mean it that wayCockroach:
Definitely NYGH, NYGH focuses a lot about character development and strives to make every girl an all rounder. I've done a lot of research about the two schools when it was my daughter's year (2012) to choose and now I am very contented with the education she is getting there. The teachers there are hands down the best teachers I've ever met and they give genuine feedback about your child. Not only that, the school's vice principals are extremely responsible and they caring! Good job NYGH!! Also, I heard from my daughter they do not have a discipline master/mistress as they believe that the students do not need one and that teachers can double up the role as a discipline master/mistress. I think the school is really good, in my opinion!

Cockroach, every teacher double up as discipline master ? Means there are so so many discipline masters / mistresses ? Wah definitely they have lots of disciplinary issue ....
Ok ok just for laff don't be mad...... Mdm Heng is definitely good.

Anyone bought e-book for chemistry ? Or bought both versions:hardcopies plus e-book. Which one better?
I asked the bookshop auntie and she said the hardcopy one is more popular amongst the upper sec. My daughter also told me her class only one person bought the ebook and very hard to make notes on ebook. But nvm lah the teachers give notes and their textbooks is leave at home to study yourself one the teachers generally dont use textbooks :boogie: -

This year, just in my daughter's class, there are 3 cellist, wonder if thats a good or bad news. Good side: the school needs quite a number of cellist. Bad side: if this year they have so many cellist, not many MIGHT be needed next yearMy DD is in CO and she plays the cello. NYGH is her dream school. We are going to try DSA and I would like to seek some parents' here.
Any of your child is in CO? Anyone plays the cello? Are there many cellist in CO? My friend told me, if for a particular year, the school doesn't need many cellist (or RUAN, Er-hu etc), the school will limit the number of DSA. Is it true?
Hope some mummies & daddies can give me some advise. TIA. -
RE: Yishun Town Secondary School
PSLEmom:
well,my frens' children are in yishun town and this school is really very good, u need not really worry about the school's ability to teach your children, if ur children does the appropriate things when met with bullying incidents, there would not be a problem! We too attended the Open house on Saturday. We also had opportunity to mix with rest of the Sec 1 aspirants ;> I was surprised to see students & their parents from most of the Primary schools in the North. I was very impressed with the CCAs. Yishun Town seems to be No1 among the secondary schools @ North.
For CCAs both students from Express, Normal & Normal (technical) all would be grouped together. There has been previous incidents of \"ragging\" & bullying....My main worry is about safety of our children. -
RE: Nanyang Girls' High School [*IP]
Erm, hi, i am not sure abt the camp but this year sec 1 batch had only 1 gep class. for this year, 2012, no trail for swimming because students in this cca are determined via gep/appeal. Volleyball, yes there is a trail but the chances of students(not gep/appeal-ers) are very slim, but yet still possible.
