      phtthp:
Is a good sign. But $5000 / mth is v ex to hire a shadow tr. maybe parents can undergo some sort of shadow training first, then can shadow teach own child in sch.

I know some parents volunteer in the school so that they can be at hand during school hours to assist, if they are needed. This is because there can be incidents of bullying or meltdowns and it will be difficult for the teacher to handle. The parent can help care for the child till sufficiently calm. This is more for the lower primary level and usually the other students will be kinder when they grow older.

      Musings:
Hi anyone knows if the P2 swimming program is compulsory? Can opt out if the kid can swim already?

I doubt it's compulsory because my bro (p3 this year) was asked to join last year but he could swim. My mum thought it was ridiculous for a child who can swim to learn agin, so she checked with his teacher who said it's not compulsary. But you should check with your dd/ds's form teacher to confirm.

Normally, timetable is issued anyday within the 1st week. It will be smaller than the sch organiser/ diary, so that they can paste/ staple it into their sch diary. But there are occasions where teachers ask students to copy the timetable into their diary. And itโ€™s white.

Have been there in Dec 2010. Very nice there and we were very lucky as well because it snowed then. Hoping to return next year.

I feel that you should pack the 1a first rather then the 1b because 1a shd be for the 1st semester of the year and 1b shd be for 2nd semester. That was what I used to do when I pack my bag.

Which are the top few classes for P5, P6 ?

is there a lot of homework for these classes ?

overall, how you find the Teachers in Upper primary @ Ngee Ann?[/quote]

The top classes may change somtimes but for this year, it was Unity for both levels. There tend to be teachers who go down hard on the students in P5 preparation for PSLE.

Overall, I felt that different teachers teach in different ways. Like my form teacher teaches us with lots of experiments/ hands on activities rather than reading of the textbook. And a friend of mine says that her maths teacher will get them to do worksheets after worksheets. So it is really on which way the child is more comfortable with.
