By the way, did your ds share about the teachers there?

Well, he did occasionally and mostly those are his subjects' teacher. Generally, his teachers are great. Of course, some will be more interesting and lively than others. His form teacher is great, very patient and caring. His geography teacher like to call her student dear, as in a mother addressing a son. His HMT teacher like to talk about food. So overall, his feeling is good. Not sure about other class though.

Thank you so much, Dad Fm East, for your valuable input. It certainly helped alot. I just returned from the free consultation at RI. An RI boy attended to us and did some orientation. I was quite impressed by the level of maturity displayed by the boy. It gives me a good impression of RI. By the way, any idea how many vacancies after the DSA places taken up are left? Wondering how good are his chances.

You mentioned yr Ds scored 267, then I say it a shoo-in. The cut-off for last yr was 259, it could not gone up by that much, 1 to 2 point maybe. Don't worry about the vacancies, not all the top boys opt for RI, some will choose HCI, ACSI and DHS. Just go ahead and put it as 1st choice if that is what yr son choice.

I am also very concerned about sending my son to RI. Heard about stories of how students regretted after going to IP in RI. Very stressed.... I don't want my son to be unhappy in sec sch life. Yet if I don't put RI as 1st choice, then afraid will regret later.

Any advice????? Really can't decide. scared to make the wrong choice. what if he half way in IP can't make it then he is without even O level cert.
      Hi Verysuperkiasu,
Firstly, congrats to your ds good result. I can understand how you felt and the concerns raised. I hope my litte input here may help you to make a better decision.

Ds had just completed his yr1 in RI. From my observation in the past 11 months, he is really happy and enjoying himself there. You did not elaborate what the unhappiness are so I can't comment on that. Busy definitely, but maybe not as stressful as what we imagined. Ds typical week is quite long, CCA (gymnas) from 3.30pm to 6.45pm on Mon, Wed and Fri. Tue and Thu are mainly reserved for projects' meeting or school acitivities. Classes ended at about 2.30pm on Tue and Thu, can't recall.

Btw, Ds is just an average student in his study. He is just like what you describe, not particularly hard working, need constant reminding, playful but obedient. So I believe your son will do just fine in RI.

IMO, the important thing is what is your son preference or choice. Did you and your son went for the open house to have a feel what is like. For Ds, he is sure on where he wanted to go, so it make thing earlier. Do not be overly concern with the O' level thing. The school does make some arrangement on that if it ever reach that stage. Cheers. šŸ˜„

Could it be they are phasing out old design and new design is going to implement next year? If you buy now your ds will look different from the rest next year. šŸ˜†
Not sure about that. But for us, it's a good deal as DS needs a Tee every day, CCA on Mon, Wed, Fri n PE lesson on Tue n Thur. The current sets look seasoned. šŸ˜„

Cotton should be better right ?
Is this the reason it's on sale ?
DS told me the cotton type is old design. No longer selling. This is current. Probably clearing stock as it won't be moving until new batch of students reporting. Happy buying n Cheers.

šŸ˜‚ OT abit. Was having lunch with bro-in-law yesterday and he mentioned his nephew from TaoNan went to RI for DSA interview recently and met a young 'WH'. The story goes like this - Nephew and 2 boys were asked if they do read the paper. One boy from ACS say yes and told the panel he followed the Presidential Election closely. Was asked the reason and boy answered his grandfather is running for election. You know who the GF is, right! šŸ˜‚
