Round 1 is based on P3 syllabus and someone who puts in consistent effort and knows his P3 work very well should be able to handle it. Don't think prep class is really needed to cross round 1.

I started to ponder if Round 1 is really based on P3 syllabus. My child's classmates who were in first and second position in class last year did not manage to go into round 2. Their SA1 results are also much better than my child.

So I now started to doubt it is really based on academic sutdy

As I have said TH has excellent materials but if I do not go through my dd's mistakes, she cannot improve so fast. Reading Chinese stories is really a great way to improve. After she left TH, I read Chinese stories to her regularly. I suppose reading stories really helps!

I do agree that parents need to revise all the materials with the child even though there is enrichment class. It makes a different

Thanks.[/quote]I was referring to the normal enrichment class for Berries. The materials taught can be easily replace with others found in Popular bookshops and self-learn at home

Where I'm coming from is that I'm afraid Soka may not teach enough for the child to be ready for P1. If that's the case, I will probably have to put in a bit more effort to teach my child at home.

Nevertheless, my child loves Soka so much and I think that is enough for me to continue with the school.

My view is that what is important is for the child to cultivate the love of learning during this period. The child will have at least 16-18 years of academic lessons to study through. So don't burn them off so soon
