I also got 2 drivers hp no and even the big boss ,Francis hp no(hopefully still the same). Maggie has asked me to complain to the Sch Admin Manager about the transportation …but c no point since has already taken her out of YMCA.

Heard all P2 have compulsory swimming lesson in the afternoon and also Chinese Speech and Drama.
Sport Day for P1 is grouped according to their houses. Mine is Cooke Hse(blue). How about yours?

      Hi Sharmum

Have you asked her whether she has taken her nap there.? She reached home so late @7.30pm? My girl usually sleep for an hour after showertime (informed teachers there my girl needs to nap), for those not sleeping, they will do sch work then teabreak and 5-5.15pm playtime/games at the netball court. YMCA sch bus comes at 6pm .
I have withdrawn my girl from YMCA this year due to transport problem. RS transport was unable to provide the sch bus during the long Nov-Dec school holiday due to limited nos. Have since put her in another student care near home. Which is quite good as I can bring her home early then the sch bus except no nap for her now.

Ye my girl’s FT emailed us yday about the meeting parents should be 13 Jan, wed in bold. P1 has their own special sport day, is the same for all schools .

Mrs Ong is very dedicated and will update the parents frequently with photos etc . Your gal is indeed blessed to have her as FT. She was my girl’s FT last year, they still missed her.. luckily for them , she is their PE teacher this year.

I only know that i paid $16 for a few pics taken with theme.....Sorry, i am not complaining.

But overall i like the school and pace. Just very frustrated that i am not able to get or verify correct info when needed, at times they'll be punished and given demerit point which shocked me at first when my girl told me she got 2 demerit points....later clarify with FT that this is to help them to remember and not really taken into their track record, phew.....also will be told to stand throughout the whole lesson if did not bring text book or whatever is supposed to bring......

$16? Are referring to the annual class phototaking by external photographer?
The photos that Mrs Ong taken..was from her own camera. She will save as Jpeg and email to us parents every now and then. Events like first day in sch, CNY, class outing,..p1 injection etc..all kinds. At the end of the year , she compiled all the photos in the CD and give to everyone in the class as a farewell gift. About the demerit point, Mrs Ong explained during the parent meeting in Jan 09 last year. It always back to zero demerit point at the beginning of each month. Only those very very serious cases the school will key in the moe system. But so far, the school have not done that.

my dd gets $2 (two one dollars coins) for recess. At first, she uses around $1 and put the rest in piggy bank. Now about $1.50 to $2. So far, I didn’t pack any lunch box for her as wanted her to get use to buying her own food in the canteen. Initially she ate only noddle soup everyday as her buddy started her on that…slowly move on to try others.

I think we are only allowed to peek on them on the first day of school……we went on the 2nd day of school, very few parents were there and was told to go home.

      Hi Sharmum

My girl is currently in 1 Patient. Don’t worry….your girl will be happy in YMCA eventually as she will get to know many friends…from different classes and even the seniors . The seniors will tell many things about the school.. so quite interesting..:) You may also check with your girl, am sure there are also a few of her classmates in YMCA . In my girl’s class there are 7 of them.
Have chosen the 6pm time as still need to fetch the younger girl (K1) from the childcare and also I reach home from work around 6.20pm ..

Yeah, there are many activities organised for them during the school holiday..even for the one week break..so no need to sign up for any holiday enrichment classes outside. I'm sure if you put her there, our girls will get to know each other very soon.

      Hi Sharmum

My girl is also in P2 next year…
The teachers in YMCA are very caring ,motherly type and the children love them. What I like about putting her in YMCA is that she finished all her school homework before going home so no need for me to worry about it , basically just need to go through her YMCA Communication book and school handbook.
In YMCA, after nap, they will first do their school homework and follow by assessments books (we have to buy EL, Maths and Chinese assessment books for her to do at the centre) which will be marked by the studentcare teachers. The teacher will also give them spelling based on the school’s spelling lists. Sometime, they will go to mt emily park esp after CAs or SAs just to play and relax.

For preparing for CAs and SAs, the teachers will give them mock papers to do…
YMCA engaged an external provider to give English and Math tuitions once a week , not expensive as they are using the classrooms.
For coming school holiday.… YMCA has planned several activities for them.movies, science and magic workshops, Singapore discovery tour.

They have already prepacked everything in the big bundle …eg. books, color pencils, drawing bag, sch socks (4 pairs), small whiteboard, color files…etc…cost about $100 plus. For maths , they are using my pals, no textbook for English as the school is doing Stellar.

6.40am is not so bad…your dd will eventually get use to the daily routine, my dd’s sch bus pick-up is 6.30am … we are at Bukit Batok. Some of the neighborhood school buses also come around this timing.

      Hi Tri-mum

You will receive the orientation package before the orientation day as there are forms to fill in.
The school bus pick up for those who are in the student care is 6pm not 6.30pm. They can also take the 4.30pm school bus home.
My DD is currently in YMCA student care, her bus picked them at 6pm and she reaches home around 6.45pm as we are staying in the west, just in time for me to fetch the younger girl.from childcare first after work.

      Hi jacsplace

Am trying to recall , the orientation package included
1.\tA tag (with name & class ) that your dd will need to put on that day
2.\tA 200 words list that she has to know how to read and spell (no worry , it will not be tested)
      3.\tForms to fill in
4.\tBooklist (they will pre pack all the required textbooks, socks, art bag etc in a big bag)
      5.\tYMCA student care
6.\tList of what to bring on first day of school
(your dd will go to the school hall first for the first week)
      7.\tParent support Group
Remember to bring $$$ and cheque book on that day for uniform, transport etc.
If no time , then uniform and PE attire can get from Bibi baba at Shaw .There’s also one form from MOE that the class teacher will give to parents to fill in on that day. Parents will go to a classroom to fill in that form.
