:)I don't think there is anything convoluted about what I 1st post..

Go read what you yourself posted..u were the 1 who is provocative..by insinuating and deducing what I implying and what I expected school to do like reprimand these parents!? U may think u are clarifying, but sorry to say , but the way you ask, sound more like confrontation and reprimanding me:)
Anyway, this is not the 1st time I 'taste' your kind of mannerism..

Anyway, not interested to argue with u on this..

      Back to more impt thing.
just to share, in case there r parents who are keen to brain storm on how to appeal to pei hwa
..I just found out, that 1 school gives back all compos plus oral will show marks and even show tchr's comments on weaknesses of oral, like too soft, lack of contect etc..
but I cannot reveal school's name, to RESPECT that parent who requested not to name the school.but is also a branded school..
Parents who wana know can pm me..
so my point is, not giving back compo and reveal oral's marks, is NOT MOe 's instructions!!
&'just to clarify, I am not a kiasu parent whose child is already very good and trying to reach full marks. .on the contrary, my child is average, thus feel the need to see the compos to help child to improve..am sure many parents r like me..
      Thanks!!
I am puzzled by what you said. Becos phpps does reveal the marks for oral and compo to the pupils in class. Also comments on oral are given on a piece of paper for pupils to bring home. This has been the practice for the past few years. The only thing they don't give back to the parents is the compo.

If you are enlisted on 3 Jan, are you allowed to go overseas for holidays in Dec?
Should be fine. We did that 2 years ago.

      Dear Steven.
Thanks. I have decided Fuhua over Clementi.

      Hi,

Looking at these 2 schools as my kid might be ard this range.... possible to share why you choose FH over CT? 🙂
      Thanks!

I suggest you check out their open house.
I went to both, and FH won me over.
Partly because their students seem more friendly during the open house.
Also their curriculum is a bit different from the norm.
Their principal at that time was quite charismatic too.
The current principal is also very down to earth and friendly.

Can I check if anyone know of any NUS High School student who is not eligible to even get into local uni like NUS/NTU? Is it true that before NUS open up registration to A level students, NUS high students has sort of priority to book a spot first? Anyone has past experience please share :thankyou:
Everything is still performance based. So if the NUSH student does not do well, they may not get a place in the course of their choice at NUS/ NTU.

If the performance is good, there is no need for the unis to wait for A level results, so yes, NUSH has the advantage in this case.

      Hi,

what books, etc, do you recommend? DS is using Terry Chew's books for maths and Sec 1 science book to prepare.

He is very keen to get in but is not a GEP student.

Presently in P6. He can solve quadratic equations already but not always correct.

He read some books by Stefan Hoking but doesn't understand everything.

Current student here. For math, start with primary school math olympaid and read up on secondary 1 topics. For science, just read widely and also secondary 1 topics. No need to memorise but good to know. I am not very good myself with english so I cannot say anything about that.

Don't worry about not being a GEP student.
NUSH does not give preferential treatment to GEP. Everyone is equal during the screening test.

So can I say that it’s more of the screening and interview/camp i.e. his aptitude? Anyone who applies gets to sit for the test?
I didn’t send him to any preparatory courses but he’s really very into Science and wants to get in badly 🤣
That's correct. If I remember correctly, anyone who applied can sit for the screening test. Usually the science paper is more difficult, so your son may have a good chance. 🙂

Wondering if anyone can share - what kinda school results will stand a chance in DSA? My DS school results isn’t fantastic, especially the languages 😓
School results are not that relevant.
Anyone can apply to their DSA and sit for the screening test.

White school shoe or any colour track shoe?
Any colour covered track shoes is fine, provided there is no rule change next year.

Preferably a light weight, with minimum i5 CPU, 256-512 GB SSD PCIe, 8-16 GB RAM specs.
It served my child well. But it was subject to rough handling and after around 3 yrs, the hinges are coming off, so do not buy an expensive one.

Sorry, with reference to my previous post, I understand that A level Cl is a prerequisite for entry requirement to NUS, perhaps not for universities overseas, so can I assume that nush students are still able to take their o lvl CL at year 3, just like in IP schools, if they are taking HCL? Thank you 🙏
Yes, if they take HCL, they take O level CL in year 3.

may I ask about coping with HCL in NUS high? Since the school is not focused in chinese, are there students taking HCL and if they are able to cope for without tuition, esp when they have no time for tuition anyway?

      Thanks in advance!
I understand more than half of the Chinese cohort are taking HCL.
It is possible to switch to normal CL if one cannot cope after 1 or 2 years.
The students at NUSH are not so concerned about MT subject because they can choose not to include it in their diploma grade points.
Yet I think most of them are doing generally well in MT.
My DS had HCL tuition once a week.
