Elroy began his Lcentral back in March 2023 and has Teacher Hui Bin has been guiding him for the past few years. Elroy is currently enrolled in the Liftoff ‘Primary Practice’ course which is a 6 months’ program to prepare K2 students for MOE Primary 1.
I really like the Lcentral course syllabus. (See attached pictures.)
Composition, students are encouraged and guided to write simple sentences from picture analysis / group discussion.

Lcentral also have comprehension exercises where a story is presented and students are given questions to answer and lastly, the regular spelling tests.
Teacher Hui Bin is really good with kids with a positive attitude and ever ready to encourage & guide the kids even if they are unable to answer some of the more challenging questions / tasks.

Presently, Elroy is 5yr +, there is still vacancy for the early Sat morning class, alternatively you can check with Lcentral admin team what are the other available slots / locations.

Estel started her Lcentral journey with the Foundation course (April’25, Teacher Hui Bin) and she has been promoted to Launchpad program (June’25 Teacher Helen).
Both teachers are excellent educators with patience with little kids. Estel really enjoys the class and she dashes into the class once inside the enrichment center.
Currently, she is learning how phonics and letter writing, with colouring (within the objects).
At the time of writing, the Sat morning class is “full / almost full”, so please check with Rochester Mall, other centres for class availability.

      @Mamalula

i cant advice you for 3 yr as i sent my son when he was 4 to Lcentral Bouna Vista / Rochester Mall. From foundation to liftoff

You will need to have a assessment for your kid’s ability before the teacher assign the appropriate class. Dont worry, if your kid is able to catch up , he can get promoted during mid term (but you need to check if there is suitable time for the more advance class)

There are 3 teachers (2 female & 1 male), I am very fortunately to have experience with the 2 teachers, Teacher Helen (1 term) & Teacher Hui Bin (since sept 2023).
Both are awesome, professional, patient and give you feedback, child progress, ways to improve, etc.
The class is small less than 10, normally around 5-7 ? (weekends)

Some pics of the textbook to share to give you some context

      Liftoff

you can see the standard jump is really quite sustainable. the level of difficulty is there, starting my son also struggle quite a bit, he is getting better now.

yes, definitely will give local qualified teachers a chance, but i am just curious why the center "up sell" native speaking teachers which charge premium yet you get local

does it depends on specific centers? or "HIGH SES" areas?

    • RE: I Can Read - Discussion

      Hi Parents,

Just some background, my son is 3.5 year old and he is currently at Maplebear (full time), starting "inhouse / external enrichment class" from feb 2023, which covers english and drama
but i am still worried his english skills is lacking behind (reading esp).

I am torn between ICR (West Coast) and LCentral Buona Vista. From the advice n comments from both centers, my rough understanding is both are "good enough" and depends on teachers.
some commented start with ICR then switch to Lcentral nearing 5-6/7 for primary school. any truth/

are there Native teachers at West Coast ? if so which one do you prefer?
if local, what is your experience?

so what are the odds of getting Native Speaking teachers, does it really depends on "HIGH SES" areas / centers?

please provide referral code (esp useful if you are under West Coast

who is the boss behind this branch ? does he own other centers as well?

many thanks and i wait for your Private Messages./ general post

      cheers!

      Hi Parents,

I have went through 223 pages of Lcentral but unfortunately, unable to find anything on LCentral Buona Vista. (there were two requests but no reply)

So i am hoping some kind souls could pity me and give me some directions. (via public post or PM)

lastly, many commented on getting Native (Ang Mor) teachers at Lcentral, but surprisingly, my two friends kena "local teachers" - they have since left this center.
