• RE: O-Level Additional Math

S-H:
Sorry, I need someone to help me with another question:-

1) Joshua deposited $1500 in a bank with a simple interest of 2% per annum compounded quarterly. Calculate the amount of interest he received after 3 years.

Thanks!

according to the compound interest formula,

P = $1500
i = interest rate
n = number of times compounded ( 3 years, compounded quarterly would means 3*4 times in total)

• RE: Q&A - PSLE Math

Lazy snake:
Hi jieheng,need help in this question:

There were 590 fruits altogether.1/5 of the apples and 1/20 of the oranges make up 73 fruits.How many apples and oranges were there?

5/5 of the apples and 5/20 of the oranges = 73*5 = 365
hence 15/20 of the oranges = 590-365

and you will be able to work out the rest ?

Pls help:

Twice a number is greater than half that number by 24. Find the number.

Thanks in advance.

twice the number => 2u
half the number => 1/2 u.

difference by 1.5u which is = 24.
1u = 24/1.5 = 16.

Hi,

if 3 books cost as much as 2 pens,
let’s say if we dont buy the pens,
with $32, we can buy 8 books.

1 book = $4.

3books = 2pens = $12
1 pen = $6.

3 pens = $18
3 books = $12
total : $30.

• RE: Comparing Enrichment Programme versus Private Tutor

i agree that both has its advantages & disadvantages.

depending on how your son is able to concentrate when in tuition centre, but on the other hand, encourage them to open up & discuss with the peers.

• RE: All About Market Rates of Private Tutors

$70/hr belongs to the higher end, but most of the NIE trained teachers are of that rate, i believe. some will be willing to go down as low as $50/hr.

well some, with alot of experiences & track record will charge about $40/hr (P2).
someone help with me my hw pls Andy sold thrice as many $5 T-shirts as $10 T-shirts. He also sold twice as many $10 T-shirts as $20 T-shirts. He collected $160 more from selling $5 T-shirts than from selling $20 T-shirts.

every $15 (3* $5), he will have $10 (1*$10)

every $20 (2 * $10 ), he will sell $20 (1*$20).

hence,

every 1 set : 6 ($5), he will have 2 ($10) & 1 ($20).

total, $160/10, 16 sets.

thankyou πŸ™‚ you know this qns too? Tom and Jerry each has some money. If Tom spends $9 per day and Jerry spends $3 per day, Tom will have $100 left when Jerry has spent all his money. If Tom spends $3 per day and Jerry spends $9 per day, Tom will have $220 left when Jerry has spent all his money. How much did Jerry have?
tia πŸ•Ί πŸ†’
we look at Jerry as he will definately have lesser money.

if he spent $3, he will have 3x days to spend.
if he spent $9, he will have x days to spend.

tom, will have $9 * 3x = $27x + $100.
tom, will have $3 * x = $3x + $220.

difference of 15x = $120.
x = 8.
