hi firave, while i am not sure what art plus exactly is, i am sure that Applied Maths is equivalent to N Level A-Maths. The student will take the N Level A-Maths paper but her result cannot be combined into the O Level L1R5. https://www.seab.gov.sg/docs/default-source/national-examinations/syllabus/nlevel/2021syllabus/4051_y21_sy.pdf this is the link for applied maths.
as for art plus, i only know that it is a subject that will be under \"Humanities\", which means that the score for art plus is combined with social studies
Thanks so much for your response.

Hi my girl's Sec1 WA1 is straight As and I didnt realize that I can start to apply for a transfer then. Her MYE and WA3 has started to decline too 😞 I really regret not starting earlier. Her PSLE score is 215 and her current school COP is 211. Do you think I can still try for schools with COP of 22X?

Wouldn’t have matter much even if you started early as vacancies may not arise.

For Sec 1 transfer, partial assessments don’t carry much weight. Hence, most of the determination would still be default to PSLE score. The likelihood of success to a higher COP school would be low. Can try but you just have to moderate your expectations.

Thanks for your response - I will try and see what happens.

Hi for current parents of TKGS Sec2 girls, do you know what is Applied Math and Art Plus?

I am confused - are these the NA equivalent papers - ie the girls will seat for A NA Paper and E Math NA Paper? I cant find the Syllabus of Applied Math on SEAB website. Thanks.

• RE: Historical COP for Sec 1 Posting Exercise

Hi, my child is caught in that awkward Score of 215. We stayed around Serangoon and have shortlisted some schools. Will love to hear your thoughts on this. We stay along the circle line so it's convenient to reach Bartley MRT, Bishan MRT or even Dakota MRT.

My girl is more Sci inclined, and we know that there are schools who mentioned they have Sci niche prog like Bartley.

But I'm torn if I should put Peirce as the first choice since COP last year is 214 and my friends asked me to give it a shot as theoretically, the students should be of similar academic standard.

On the other hand, Bartley mentioned they have a Bartley Scholars Prog for students whose score is >210 which seems enticing as this may mean there will be more opportunities for this group of students.

??Pierce (COP 214). 43min. Once new station is up should be just 5 stops away + 700m walk.
Bartley Sec (COP 188). 22min. Train + 550m walk
Guangyang Sec (COP 192). 25min. Train + 900m walk
Whitney Sec (COP 188). 25min. Train + Bus
Broadrick Sec (188). 28min. Train + 400m walk
Yio Chu Kang Sec (189). 38min. Train + 850m walk

Im even considering schools like Seng Kang & Greendale. Totally lost πŸ™

I will love to hear the thoughts of the parents here. Do chip in your advice. Thanks in advance.
Hi, I am a student and I did not get posted to CCHMS- my first choice and my mother went to appeal. I have a T-score of 238, wonder if there would be a high chance of getting in. I went to the sch 2 times and I really like the environment, so I really really want to get into the sch.

Hope someone can help! Thks! πŸ˜›

I was told that COP this yr is 239. Anyway good luck

Hi, U may try to appeal and do bear in mind that there are uausally a lot of people appealing as well. Do not put too high hope of it. This is just my advice
Dear Active Gurl
I have just PM you to share with you my experience of appeal for my child last year - she is now a Sec 2 student in CCHMS.

• RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Hello - this forum is really active - my last posts is at page 40+ and now we are already at page 74.

Just saw the balloting results for P1 for next year and oh dear - even Yangzheng now require balloting too at Phase 2C?

My 2nd and 3rd child qualifies for Phase 2A2 for Yangzheng Primary School and initally I was thinking of trying for Rosyth under Phase 2B (but I dont think I get selected as PV after the 1st interview) - so Im not placing my chips there anymore.

I was looking at CHIJ Toa Payoh (within 1km) - but seem that they dont do PV - only allow PV for parents of existing students. Their balloting under Phase 2C I also seem quite xiong.. and Im worried if I withdraw from YZPS and try for CHIJ TP - if I dont get the place, then I will end up loosing both ends and places.

Dilemma.. should I just stick to YZPS for my gals 😞 this is so stressful... when P1 is still a few years away.

:?:

I hear that ballet provides a good dance foundation.
Chinese dance is also good for developing grace and might be good for future DSA application.

:thankyou:
Hi Serendipity
I share the same sentiment with you & is consider DES too for my gals. The Chinese Dance seem to have some \"practical value\" in the future.. & I have at least couple of friends who used Chinese Dance as DSA. Have you made up your mind, care to share where are you going to enrol ur gal?

thks

Hi, I'm thinking of registrating my child at CHIJ St Nicholas primary in abt 2 yrs time. I heard from some relatives that I have to start 'doing something' now like volunteering at the school, calling the principal etc.

Are there any other things I can do to help my child gain entry to that school? I am not an alumni of that school and not staying within 1km (actually it's only slightly over 1km). So not sure if the chances are good...Anyone can advise?
Hi, Im not sure if my news is still reliable as I called 2 mths ago in Dec. But the Admin at CHIJ St Nic told me that they can only accept PV (parents volunteer) from parents who stay within 1 km of the school. You may want to ring up the school to confirm.
