    • RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting

Since successful placement will only be known on 21 Dec, that means appeal will be from 22 Dec onwards? But we are expected to report to assigned school the next day after announcement, that is on 22 Dec.

      phtthp:
Summary gleaned from Cedar open house:-

      ========================================

Cedar start Integrated Programme next year, for 2012 Sec 1 batch.
      http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1166239/1/.html

2011 COP for O level track is 248.
COP for IP track not finalized yet.

out of total 9 Sec 1 classes:

      - approx 100 girls (ie. 3.5 to 4 classes) - will come under IP programme.

      - the remaining 5.5. classes will come under O level programme.

      - majority Sec 1 take Higher Chinese (HCL). The feedback gathered was that majority Sec 1 girls prefer to take HCL. Very few want to drop out take normal Chinese. Even those not so strong in HCL as been advised by their Chinese teachers to take normal Chinese, the girls said a firm No, they're willing to buck up, self motivate themselves, work harder & improve on HCL - bec they want to stay in the norm with the school culture, where girls desire pursue HCL. Everyone wants the best.

curious i asked, \"how about Indians or Malays ?\"
reply: \"other race can opt for Higher Malay, or Higher Tamil\".

2012 Sec 3 batch - will have 5 pure Science classes.
school offer triple Sciences, and school is also very strong in Humanities.

facilities wise - saw lots of spacious, huge sports & track field for running & jogging, brand new 4 storey high indoor stadium, lots of basketball, netball, volleyball, tennis courts. They also have a huge soccer field. Their CCA focus mainly on Sports. ask them - for CCA, do you have Artistic or Rhythmic gymnastics, Chinese cultural dance or ballet ? Answer: No. We only have Modern dance.

the tour also brought us to a number of computer lab.

the auditorium is very huge, aircon and spacious - girls have their lectures inside.
once i sat down - don't feel like getting up, feel like dozing off ... it's so cozy.
overall: give me a very modern, spacious feeling, great facilities !
Note that 30% percent of the IP slots have already been taken up by DSA.
Also the school does not seem new. Maybe it is only the 4 storey building?

    • RE: 2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

      jtoh:

NJC is an IP school. It offers Sec 1 through to A levels. Most of the IP schools are very popular, which accounts for a higher COP.
      That explains. Thanks for advice.

Noticed that NYJC has high COP. It is not SAP, not IP..... curious why it is so popular??

Sorry, \"Fourth\" - you are referring to NYJC - as in, Nanyang JC? That's JC ... COP not that high. It is SAP and affiliated to the Chung Cheng group of schools. Is it very popular? I guess - for a 2nd tier JC, it could be considered popular. Or....... are you confusing it with NYGH - Nanyang Girls' High School which is an IP school leading to HCI?

Sorry if I am not clear... I am referring to National JC. The COP is quite high yet not SAP nor having IP.

    • RE: Can go to NA if the student is recommended Express stream?

Well… because she felt that her son became accustomed to the slower pace, rather than taking it to his advantage.
