MandyMummy:
NJC also starts 2nd week of Jan. They help in orientation for the junior high while also having classes. The IP classes are separate from the non-IP (those that come in in JC1) as their curriculum differs.
I know the Raffles schools start in the 2nd week of Jan.phankao:
I think the other IP schools start as usual in the 2nd week of Jan, right?
But formal lessons after O level students admitted.

Yes. A second language is a requirement for IB. So unlike in JCs, you can't drop your second language completely for Year 5/6 even if you cleared HCL at O levels. The advantage is that CL is very simple if you take the IB standard level at Year 4. So you can take Spanish or some exotic language at the basic level at Year 5/6, or continue with Chinese at Year 5/6.
Just saw on the ACS thread that if a students clear HCL at year 4, he needs to take another 2nd language (not Chinese) for year 5 and 6.phankao:
Most in ACSI IP (that is, headed for IB in yr 5/6), do their HMT in Yr 4. My fren's son did that this yr. And they have a looooooong holiday from Nov to end Jan before they start on Yr 5!!!
I think the other IP schools start as usual in the 2nd week of Jan, right? -
hi, much earlier, one or two kind souls had posted on secondary schools open houses. canβt seem to find it. does anyone know? thank you!

Heard part of the reason for the high IB score here is becos of the CL.

So if one has to take Spanish or other 2nd language, will it affect his/her score ? -

Sorry if I am not clear... I am referring to National JC. The COP is quite high yet not SAP nor having IP.Fourth:
Noticed that NYJC has high COP. It is not SAP, not IP..... curious why it is so popular??
Sorry, \"Fourth\" - you are referring to NYJC - as in, Nanyang JC? That's JC ... COP not that high. It is SAP and affiliated to the Chung Cheng group of schools. Is it very popular? I guess - for a 2nd tier JC, it could be considered popular. Or....... are you confusing it with NYGH - Nanyang Girls' High School which is an IP school leading to HCI? -

smartypants:
You should be able to get into your first choice, ACSI, but this will be for the O level and not IP programme. Victoria and SJI are both offering IP this year so you might see an increase in their COPs, even for the O level programme. But if you put a couple of safe options into your 6 choices you should be okay. Someone suggested Bukit Panjang Secondary. That is a good choice. So is Anderson.
jtoh, snow crystal, edureach ... please help mesmartypants:
Hi, I'm a P6 boy and my tscore is 246  . These are my school choices.
1. ACSI
2. Victoria 'O' level
3. Anderson
4. SJI
5. ???
6. ???
Please offer me guidance on my choices and also help me fill up other two choices. BTW, SAP schools are not a choice for me as my MT is not chinese(but hindi).
Thanks for your help and congratulations to all those who have done beyond expectation for thier PSLE.

You may also want to consider applying to School of Science and Technology but this is outside the S1 posting. -

Just take standard level CL in Year 5/6. Very simple. Most of the kids score 7 for it. (7 being the equivalent of A)
