I just started on book 1 lesson 1. There’s this word xiao ren, I thought is used to mean a person of vile character but in the book it seems to refer to a child. Which is right? Or am I mistaken?

Is it more worthwhile to buy a cheaper but newer entry level one or a more pricey but older piano like a u1?
