RE: Trinity or ABRSM diploma?
I find DipABRSM to be more ‘academic’ - it has a greater weightage on the programme notes and also has the Viva Voce section, where the examiner will ask you to discuss about your piece. Trinity diplomas are more focused on the performance aspect - you have to treat it like an actual performance by preparing your own programme notes and dressing appropriately.
Agree with above poster that if your child wants to pursue music seriously, DipABRSM will give a better base as it is more rigorous. My viola teacher, however, told me that ATCL (Trinity) is ‘easier to pass’ so it can be a good starting point. -

RE: BMAT Preparation Resources
I used the book How to Master the BMAT by Chris Tyreman (Publisher: KoganPage) (bought from BooksDepository- free shipping, yay!) and I seriously advise doing all the past year BMAT papers after 2007. The past year papers will familiarise you with the format and get you used to the time limit.

RE: How much to budget to read medicine in UK?
You have to look at the individual schools and cities. In terms of tuition fees (actual school fees) Imperial, Kings College, Oxford and Cambridge are some of the most expensive. Many schools also have different fees for preclinical and clinical years (the clinical years are usually more expensive). If I remember correctly, most are about £30, 000 per year but the most expensive schools are more like £40, 000 per year.
