      Dear KSPs

My child got 247 + 2. Would like to hear your views on the following choices:
      1. CGS
      2. Nan hua high
      3. Bukit panjang high
      4. Scgs
      5. Commonwealth
      6. Fairfield methodist

We stay in the west. Thanks!
Do u think it is wi5shful thinking to consider scgs ip for appeal? Did not put it first because do not want to take risk

You have 6 choices... Its ok to risk one or two... Nobody knows what will happen in the posting or appeal.... In my opinion its worth a try.

If we were to take a risk for IP, which IP school, in your opinion, will have a higher chance? Thanks all for your advice.

      Hi All,

      Another question to clarify:

The rules (were) laid down many years ago. You must obey them.

      Options: were/are/have been/will be

Why is it 'were' and not 'have been' since the rules are still applicable and must be obeyed?

      Thanks much!

Btw Jetsetter, thanks for the analogy of 主角 and 配角.

haha, I watched too much dramas.

it is not whether the rules are applicable till this date, but whether the Action of \"laying down\" the rules is still happening here and now. The Action of laying down rules is over and done with. Therefore \"were\" is correct;)

      Thanks!

Many thanks in advance if some can help on why the answer below is \"bid\":

No one at the action dared bid on the priceless 'Star of the Sea' pendant.

The options are: bid / bids / have bid / bidding

      thanks.

\"dared\" is your auxiliary verb (functions like your modals 'can'.) here so it takes the past tense.
\"bid\" remains in its base form I.e. Un-tense

Thanks, Jetsetter. How do you teach a child to identify such unusual auxillary verb? Greatly appreciated.
