workinghard:
how should i choose for 210 in east side? my mom chose a few for me, but she isn't very decisive, and couldnt decide whats the best for me

Take a rest for today, its a hard day, sleep well now ...... Tomorrow check for more information on school in the internet.

When things/issues look confusing, take a deep breadth, sit up right, bring your head further back away from where you are looking or staring or studying. Close your eyes for 5 minutes. Then work on it from start again. It will become easier to resolve.

Some other important points other than COP :-
You may also visit the schools personally and look at the other aspects such as their CCA etc if they interest you, other than just base on results.

For example, if you are in Band in Primary School, then check on if their strength in Band etc. Or Table Tennis.... or Badminton or swimming. Uniform groups ? OR School debates. The School achievement in CCAs, in Debates. MT level, English level?

You can also check on the school other achievement and motto etc. Also on the design of uniform and color.

Visit the school environment, the field, track and field, the canteen what type of food available, the library, the toilets.

Talk to the admin auntie if friendly, talk to some teachers and talk to some students. Look at the students behaviours, ask the students about how they feel about studying there. Ask them about the CCA there, any favourite teachers, any favourite subjects. Celebration on Festivals etc. Look at the notice board, the students notices and work.

Organize your findings, Give some thoughts about your priority vs your findings, matching them, then decide your choices. If it is still too difficult, do by eliminating the ones that you dislike first.

Hope it helps.

i scored 210 coming from the top 3 class.. i really can't believe it because i studied very hard and i just fell sick right after the chinese paper, really unbelievable.. 😞

Not to worry, don't give up. PSLE is just part and parcel of life.

I did not know what had happened to my PSLE exams but I got into one of the worst Secondary School in Singapore, now not existing, with students smoking and fighting... gangster groups as well.... It was tough to accept as I was one of the top student in my primary school and I disappointed my father the most.

Shocked, confused and embarrassed but I had to move on ..... Years later, I graduated from Local University with First Class Honours !

You can too and you will ! Tell us the good news in Kiasu Parents 13 years later.
You can call the MOE hotline : 68722220 & they will tell you the COP. I called up NJC this morning asking if I can appeal for my son if he did not choose the school at all & the lady staff there was very very unfriendly. :x She said she doesn't see any reason why i should appeal if NJC is not in the 6 choices at all. Worst, after hearing my son's agg. 257, she said the COP this year is above 257, bull shit. Simply asking you to give up. The school doesn't know the COP yet cos' when I called up Dunman High, the friendly staff told me they do not know the COP yet most probably in the afternoon. I will appeal for DHS instead.

Half a year ago, I called NJC regarding admission to the school for a friend's daughter who just came back from overseas. The lady staff was very rude and sounded grumpy. In the end, she got me so mad I quarrelled with her. From then on, I struck the school off my daughter's sec sch list. That conversation really gave me a very bad impression of the school. Cannot imagine having to deal with such staff for 6 years.
Yep ! Yep ! I was in NJC for my first 3 months of JC and I was looked down by them greatly, the teachers and students. The first thing they checked was which school you were from ........ dealing with the students and staff for 3 months was already long enough .... .and for parents to dealing for 6 years, headache ..... and new students slowly got into the same old NJC style ..... Told myself then, I will have a good uni local degree, need not go overseas, AND WITHOUT EDUCATION FROM NJC and I did .... NTU first class and I AM NOT FROM NJC .... ha ha ha !!! Kang Pai !!! :celebrate:
What is the COP for NJC? Pls post asap. Can I go for appealing today?

I am surprise to see that RGS is only 260.

From the parents posts here it is 257, please call the school. They seems to know the COPs by now. Good luck !!!

Yep ! NJC 's been unfriendly since 1980 ...experienced exactly the same \"look down\" thing then....... school culture , maybe.... so I disallowed my son to even think of going there ..... \"Simply asking you to give up.\" your descriptions perfectly fit their way of talk from staff there, admin to every level..... my sister from there too and her attitude ---> NJC's style exactly like what you describe .... πŸ˜›

hi all

i've submitted the S1 form.........1st choice : DHS 2 nd choice : NYGH
these few days, while i was trying to convince myself to put DHS as 1st choice, on the other hand, my gal was trying to please me (i know she's trying to please me) by saying, \" if u want NYGH, then NYGH lorr......\"
in the end, i go with her heart, by saying, \"Confirmed! DHS as 1 st choice\", immediately i saw the gleam in her eyes.........
i hope to see the continunity gleams in the eyes down the 6 yrs......... πŸ˜„

DHS a good choice ! Know someone graduated from DHS (now 34) with very great character, good english good chinese ........ and I can feel, from him, that he had a very great and unforgettable time in DHS...... very fun, good and with great friends ! He's still keeping in touch with DHS friends with regular ex DHS gathering ! He was a basketball player there.

......and.......he can translate easily from English to Chinese and from Chinese to English ..... every phrase and every word, in exact meaning, and very fast - very helpful in work. Perfect in his work, accurate and 100% filial son with great problem solving skills and amazing never-give-up working attitude --- and I am speaking as a boss of him 9 years ago.

....and when you mentioned 德明 students in the working industries , almost everyone will \"wow\" .... especially on their double languages !

She will definitely have a great time in DHS !

Greenridge has many committed teachers and responsible principal. School has been renovated and performance rising every year. Must consider!

Assumption English School or Boy's Town ? --> A NO NO due to personal experience, very sorry in advance.
My son was disturbed by the school boys (smoking) around there a few times on his way back from school (walking home). They ever tried to borrow a \"lighter\" from my boy, a primary school kid and luckily one of them had stopped the other two to disturb my boy further, saying he was just a Primary School student. In another few cases, some others tried to spark a conversation with my boy when he was walking along, my boy just kept quiet and walk hastily away from them. Later, my boy had to divert his walking route home, from behind the school, to avoid students from these schools.

I put as AES or Boy's Town as honestly we did not pursue further to check which schools they are from and do not want to be unfair to either. For fear that there will be more disturbance to my boy if we complained to the respective school, we choose to just avoid them and keep quiet.

Staying very close to this area, has a constant fear that our children will be posted to these two schools after PSLE, in the case of failed posting in all the 6 choices made.........

Suddenly I remembered my nightmares with my kids' 3rd lang :

1. Original Scheduled 3rd lang day clashed with CCA and need to change 3rd lang day (amazingly, without fail, it happened every year)
2. Missing school bus to MOELC because school lesson was extended
3. Always attending makeup classes because original scheduled day clashed with some more important CCA.
4. Poor kids eating SuperCoffee Mix instant noodle at MOELC if they take the first session of 3rd lang because no time for lunch
5. Poor kids waiting aimlessly in school if they take the 2nd session of 3rd lang because it starts only at 4.30 (I remember so)

On a few occasion, I was so confused that poor me was waiting stupidly at Henderson Road to pick them from school only to receive SMS that they were waiting for me at Bishan 😒

The other day, they asked me to buy SuperCoffee Mix instant noodle - curry flavour because they missed the good old taste. Surprisingly couldn't find any in the supermarket.

Lastly, the lousy Jap Text book would change a little bit every year. So text books cannot past down and are damn ex. 😒

You are very funny !!! :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: Your description really makes me :rotflmao: hmm... looks like have to juggle between 3rd, CCA and Piano lesson.... and Chinese .... ah damn ...:stupid:

I hope my son could cope up with it, he's taking Japanese. If can't cope, got to take reference from you. But if Japn as 3rd not accepted by MOE, he will not take any other 3rd language, only Jap we are keen.

And ya, the Jap text are damn ex, every thing that is \"Jap-related\" are damn ex....their supermart is so ex......pen..sive and so many Japs still buying and not going to local supermart. Sometimes I'm so angry with this \"Jap\" thing here and there.

So what do you think the EESIS cut off is this year? And how does it compare to the EESIS cut off of previous years?

It is confusing for EESIS eligibility, going thru' the Part One a few times but still not too sure .... some facts ---> to compare two years :-

Year 2007 PSLE - NO EESIS
262, Non GEP, Non DSA?, Independent, IP (NUS)
--------------------------------------------------------
2 years ago, should be year PSLE 2007, 262 and NUS, IS,IP ---> but could not get this EESIS. He was not GEP student. And I don't think he entered into NUS thru DSA (can't confirm). He suspected that EESIS COP was 263 that year, only a guess.

Year 2009 PSLE - WITH EESIS
261, Non GEP, DSA, Independent and IP
------------------------------------------------
A NON GEP with 261, DSA entry , Independent school and IP, is auto-given the EESIS, but do not know if it is due to DSA ? or due to Independent Schools or due to IP ? -
Auto-Print on S1 option form (page 1)

Maybe better check with MOE again or gather more facts from fellow KSpapa and KSmama.

(A)
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/secondary-one-posting/general-information/edusave-scholarships/

(B)
In Page 12 of Part One :- ( Clause 3.2 and 3.3 )
(1) Eligible pupils who are admitted to independent schools based on PSLE. I think met the EESIS Cut off score. ( Clause 3.7) - not stated TOP X% ?
(2) GEP students met GEP promotion criteria
(3) GEP in IP in an independent school at S1

Hope someone can related data collected to EESIS COP or etc.....
