hi all, i'm thinking of putting DHS as my gal first choice, but she is 2 marks away fr cop after adding HCL.
hi nothing2do
no harm trying, just like what hugehugesmileyface said, u can try to appeal if u're unsuccessful.
but just to let u know........
when i was at the open hse, the principal ever said that the COP for DHS is always ard 259 /260 for all these yrs, if below that , don't waste yr choice....
but then again, it all depends on the overall cohort of this yr, that's y i shd say, no harm trying if 1-2 points off the COP. -
Augmum:
you have a good gal! But like what you said earlier, if your gal has already set her heart for DHS, why do you want to insist NYGS for her?hi all
i've submitted the S1 form.........1st choice : DHS 2 nd choice : NYGH
these few days, while i was convincing myself to put DHS as 1st choice, on the other hand, my gal was trying to please me (i know she's trying to please me) by saying, \" if u want NYGH, then NYGH lorr......\"
in the end, i go with her heart, by saying, \"Confirmed! DHS as 1 st choice\", immediately i saw the gleam in her eyes.........
i hope to see the continunity gleams in the eyes down the 6 yrs.........
I'm sure she will enjoy her time there. You should be happy that your gal can go to a school of HER choice for studies. Quite a no of students cannot get into their choice school...
-
thks tree nymph, yes i’m all the while happy for her choice…as both choices are fine with me.
before the results were released, i told her, so long above 260, i am happy. (as this was what she aim for in oder to go to DHS)
yes, u’re rite, i could understand how the kids feel when they cannot go to their dream schools. saw some of her classmates cried on the results day.
frankly, as for this yr, i see most students failed to perform within their expectations by talking to some parents. -
tree nymph:
tree nymph, could be pl elaborate on the above sentence........ (who is ms lee, a teacher or a student?? u mean their academic results or what)
In fact, I know a Ms Lee from NYGS commenting that how come their (NYGS) results are not able to beat DHS's. -

Is your dd from RGPS? -
Dharma:
hi Dharma
Hi Augmum,
Is your dd from RGPS?
no, my gal is not fr rgps. she is fr a all girls' sch. (why.....???u mean rgps girls performed below expectations for this yr)
prob, becos they are girls, they cried more easily as compared to boys when they saw their t-score not meeting the COP of their dream schools.
oh......btw, dharma, what are the choices of yr gal's school?? ( i remembered we did chat b4 the results were released) -

DHS a good choice ! Know someone graduated from DHS (now 34) with very great character, good english good chinese ........ and I can feel, from him, that he had a very great and unforgettable time in DHS...... very fun, good and with great friends ! He's still keeping in touch with DHS friends with regular ex DHS gathering ! He was a basketball player there.
......and.......he can translate easily from English to Chinese and from Chinese to English ..... every phrase and every word, in exact meaning, and very fast - very helpful in work. Perfect in his work, accurate and 100% filial son with great problem solving skills and amazing never-give-up working attitude --- and I am speaking as a boss of him 9 years ago.
....and when you mentioned 德明 students in the working industries , almost everyone will \"wow\" .... especially on their double languages !
She will definitely have a great time in DHS ! -

hi jitancat
thks for yr sharing, feel good to hear nice things abt DHS.
yr posting reminds me of what the principal, Mr Sng, had said at the open hse, \" we, dunmanians make good sons-in-laws, as told by the parents.\"

Sorry. I just wanted to be sure cause I remember we communicated under the RGPS thread.
RGPS did better this year, especially the top students.
We have selected RGS as 1st choice followed by NJC,MGS,SCGS…
