RE: Jiang Education Centre - Discussion
My kids are in P1 and P3 chinese class.
My p3 daughter improved q a bit after starting class last sep, so she's motivated after seeing the improvement. the teacher asks them to read some simple 1-page essays and their homework 2-3 times each week and they indicate parents' signature after. we feel guilty signing off if she doesn't read! so mayb the fact we oso need to spend time at home reading with her oso helps.
i oso used to worry 3-hr is too much but somehow my kids have adapted to it.
they hv a short break in between, so that helps.
as for the classroom being cramped, i hv no other basis for comparison because prior to primary class, i did not send my kids for any \"academic\" classes other than yamaha (n the classrooms there are oso kinda cramped with the instruments). so my kids did not complain other than the fact that they hv to go for chinese class on a sunday

Hi, so far have not heard anything abt show n tell. however, they ask the kids to read a chinese story book (their own) and tell the other kids the story in class, about 2 kids or so will go up in front of the class and talk abt the book.

My son joined the 1.5hr in K2 and just started the 3hr class in for P1.
He’s quite timid and has been crying since the change from childcare this year, so before Chinese class, he cries for an hr b4 going in. (yup, i’m the mother of the crying boy at Sunday’s 12.50pm class) whereas he was fine in K2. his teacher (same teacher as his K2 class) was v patient with him, holding him n encouraging him to get him to join the class.
For me, at P1, the main purpose is to expose him to Chinese which we rarely speak at home. since he started the class in K2, he is able to speak some Mandarin. They do have Chinese classes in his childcare but he refuses to speak the language.
and also, i was so stressed out on sunday with his crying b4 the class, i forgot to thank the mother whose son was in the same class as mine. she asked her boy to come out of the class with a lollipop and try to get my boy to join the class. altho my boy refused the help, thanks so much (if you happen to be in this forum). hope we bump into each other on sunday!!! -

RE: Jiang Education Centre - Discussion
My kids just started at Jiang earlier in Sep. For the holiday programs, my kids just brought back the schedule. For my K2 son, as the teacher is with them when we pick them up, she just asked me once and I told her that both parents are working and hence not possible to send them for 2-3 hrs classes during hols. For my P2 daughter, I asked her to explain to the teacher and even when i bump into the teacher b4/after class, no mention of signing up for the holiday programs. So I din experience any "pressure" from either teachers.
My P2 daughter’s year end grade improved tremendously after just 1.5mths lesson with them. We were quite happy and will be letting her continue in P3. -

Hi, timings for P1 are already out. Registration for existing students are now on-going. You can call and check with the centre on when they are open to the public.

RE: Jiang Education Centre - Discussion
I just registered my K2 boy (Sun 12.50 - 2.20) and P2 girl (also Sun 12.50 - 3.50) at Jiang last month and they’re starting the class in Sep.
So just call and ask, slots may still be available. Course fees will be pro-rated (per term is 20 classes, holiday programmes are optional).
Keeping my figers crossed as this is my son’s first "academic" class and my daughter’s first 3-hour class!!
