My conclusion so far is, the domain has to be something the child enjoy. When it comes to seriously getting a DSA, or after successfully DSA, the child will need to spend lots of times to do/continue to do well in the domain , on top of regular studies, compared to other child not involved in DSA with only regular studies to focus on. Parents, pls correct me if there are cases differ from my conclusion.
I can‘t speak for others but at Primary level DS is coping well. Balancing intense training schedule and good academic performance. Could he have done better if no sports commitment? I doubt it. He probably would be gaming away  !

Is it going to be the same for secondary school? I don’t know. Will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Yes, minimum tuition plus lots of sleep. He finishes his HW in school and straight to bed after training ( a little bit of gaming on daddy’s phone before sleep 😂 )

I think regardless if its academic or sports, there's no doubt a lot of time would have to spend on nurturing it. After following DSA thread for quite some time, I realized that DSA is not for those who wants to DSA but rather, its more for those who has found what they are good in and thereafter looking at DSA to continue what they have been good at.

When there's so many people going for DSA, the ones who normally get selected are those who are already quite well-known in the respective field. Those who are ranked nationally within top 8. Even for team sports, the better players are already spotted. And to be trained to be of this kind of ranking, a lot of time & effort have to be put in. I can only speak for my girl, a swimmer, weekly she has to put in about 15 hours of training and its only increasing as she grows older.

So don't try to push your child into something which they might be able to DSA. Rather I think focusing on what their interest is and see where it leads to may be more fitting.
Can‘t agree more!Only go for the sport if you are truly passionate about it, never for the sake of DSA. Your DC will be rewarded with DSA if he/she is really good at it. Meanwhile, keep an eye on their academics as well. Most IP schools will only consider the kids below AL12 for IP. Nevertheless, being good at a sport will open doors to many many schools now and in the future even if the academic result is average. Why?The sports career speaks for the kid in terms of resilience and hard work.

She spent 5 days per week training before DSA season, and train daily during DSA season? she not tired?
I can attest to that. Most sports kids spend this much time if not more.

      OrangUtahn:
Those of you who have kids who are/were attending nursery and kindergarten here, how is the feedback system like? Do the teachers write reports on your child's progress or do you have to call in and ask? My child is in N2 and he doesn't normally tell me how his day went. Either he doesn't remember or he didn't achieve much. I have called the school and only 50% of the time does his form teacher call me back. I wonder if no feedback is the norm in his school. Other schools he has been to volunteer the info right after the lesson. Thanks.

Yes, that's what I found strange, too.
There is no \"communication book\" or \"daily/weekly report\" system. When I asked the teacher about this issue, she suggested me to call the admin office and she will call me back if there is anything I wish to discuss.
I told her I will drop a note in DS's school bag if I have any message for her. She said that's fine.
I send/fetch DS to/from school everyday so I get to see the teachers. DS is only in N1 so he doesn't really tell me much about his day in school, either.

      Dear All,

My son is starting in BRMCK this coming new year. I would like to find out from fellow mummies here more info on March school holiday (we are planning to take him overseas and need to apply leave early).
BRMCK 1st term starts on 7 Jan, primary schools start on 2 Jan. Does that mean BRMCK March holiday will start later than primary schools (16 March)?

      Many thanks in advance!

      Hi hi, mummy_et,

Nice to meet fellow N1(to be) mummies. One question, some of my friends commented on DS attending PM class saying AM class is better for kids. Is that true? Didn’t have a choice as AM were all taken up…am a little concerned now~

From what i’ve seen during the tour, the montessori classes have dedicated class rooms with educational tools/toys? It’s mixed age class independent of the main stream class. I believe Montessori teachers are not main stream teachers, izu?

Strictly speaking we are Evagelicans. But we don’t emphasize on denominations at all in my church in the states. All the teachings are so similar if not identical…but I do understand they wouldn’t recognized cos different denomination after all…

Oh! I see. I am Christian. Not attending church at the moment due to relocation. That’s why I want to send DS to ACS.

      Thanks for the reply, LOLMum.

Wow! If 0.5km then not so many addresses would qualify…
