panickymum:
How much daily allowance do you give the dc in NJC ?
Hello!
My parents give me $5 a day for my allowance. In NJ, the cost of a meal ranges from $2-$4 and drinks from $0.50-$1.40 so $5 is enough for a meal and a drink or a snack, which should be enough for your child's needs. -

wheeee:
It differs for different levels and also at different timings so you would have to refer to the timetable given.ong.hongli:
what time is the latest normal (w/o cca) dismissal timing?
The latest would be 3pm on Mondays. Wednesday is 3pm as well. Fridays are the earliest to be dismissed.
For example, JH2s during Term 4, the latest dismissal timing is 4pm on Mondays as they have SPIRE then. However, during the rest of the year the latest would be 3pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. -

Hi, I would just like to ask if NJC still accept students from other schools in SG in Yr 3.
Yes, I'm sure they still do.

Can anyone enlighten me on the art elective program. MTIA.
Hello!
I have just been accepted into the AEP program so here's some information on it.
Lessons are on either Tuesday or Thursday from 2-5pm.
AEP will not only teach art skills and techniques, but also history.
AEP students are encouraged to take Art at O levels at the end of their JH4 year.
AEP has a 2 year contract. You cannot drop out of it during the JH3/JH4 years you have signed on.
Students will be tested at the end of JH4 for eligibility to take Art at the A levels.
I hope this helps! -

Hi, thanks for the reply. I would like to borrow the maths and science booklets. If you have them, do let me know and can arrange to collect from you at your convenience. Thanks in advance. :thankyou:
Hi, are you sure about this? There is A LOT of booklets for Math and Science for the entire year, and even then the curriculum may be changed.lebookworm:
Hi,
I would like to borrow JH2 Math and Science booklets and notes for my dear DD. My dear DD is in JH1 this year.
Can any kind hearted JH2 parent or student be able to lend me? I will photocopy and return? Please kindly PM me.
Thanks so much.
By the way, if you are a JH2 , how is it in JH2, can share?
Yes, I am a JH2.
Hmm, where do I start?
Firstly, I think JH2 is not much of a change from JH1, since in JH1 you learn how to juggle your subjects so JH2 was easier to manage, and not very stressful.
For the Drama Production in JH2, there will be a lot of time spent for rehearsals closer to the actual date, so do note that most of your boarding nights then will be used to prepare for it.
If your child is looking to go for Advanced Humanities/Literature now's the time to start preparing as the criteria for getting in is very strict (Read: As and above- Note that for AH you need at least an A in IH and GS)
There will also be SPIRE in Term 4. Research proposals and literature reviews will be written in the JH2 year, while all the experiments will be done next year. There is a choice of Math or Science research so do ask your child to decide on one. While SPIRE isn't counted in the GPA, if done well it can be used to participate in competitions. Also, if your child is inclined towards science, do ask him/her to work hard as there will be students picked out for the Accelerated Science Program as well as the Science Mentorship Programme, where students will have mentors from institutes such as NUS for their SPIRE project.
If you have any other questions do ask!

After your child has received posting results all students will have to report to their posted schools to purchase uniforms and textbooks. The book list will only be provided there. After settle the decision , I would like to know how do I get the uniform and textbook?
Can I get it earlier as I do not want to do it during orientation . I'm sure it will be very crowded . This is another advantage of DSA . -

Unless NJC has changed the way they conduct A. Math. DS is now in JH3 and he has been with A. Math since JH1. For his cohort, the A. Math is definitely not Olympiad style practices. A. Math cover more indepth and perhaps a little faster. Olympiad is another separate session where he initially took part but subsequently discontinued after loosing the interest.
I am not sure if that is so. Discussion with a teaching staff revealed that current acceleration involves projects and Olympiad style practices much less on fixed syllabus.More students will be joining the acceleration in JH2 and wonder how it will be tailored if they had missed JH1 acceleration
Agreed. -

I would be very grateful if you can give me answers so that I can better design my tour(I'm a tour guide for parents who show up late or didn't register) to suit the parents' needs.
Thank you and I hope to see you at the October School Tours this Saturday!
