I kind of agreed with PlatypusAsia. My son attended in Nov 2015 at Yu Neng. In terms of their lunch, DVC needs to improve on this area. The children can be given chicken rice with 1-2 chicken wings and no vegetable 😞

    • RE: All About Bullying

Recently my P2 son told me one of his male classmates likes to tease him. I told him to ignore that classmate for whatever he says to my son. Do you think this is good enough or should such matter be brought up to the teacher? My son is quite articulate and I am sure he will tell the teacher if the classmate bully him (in fact teacher has called me for this matter long time ago saying the 2 boys are not in good terms)

My P2 boy is not holding the pencil correctly, no matter how many times we remind him to change. Anyone can help / suggest how to change? Thanks in advance πŸ™‚

This is the problem when parents are too anxious to teach very young children how to hold a pencil to write. The fine mother skills of the child has to be mastered through regular practice. Suitable age to introduce a child to penmanship or tracing letters should only be done in the year that the child is turning 4.

The only way to overcome this problem is to use a triangular thin pencil or buy those triangular pencil grips.

Even with grips etc, the child may be stubborn and refuse to change. In some cases, the child may have poor fine motor skills and have to use a \"strange\" grip until he is older, and then it is even harder to get them to change. My older daughter is one of these. In the end, I gave up trying to make her change. I look at the bigger picture - she can write legibly (not beautifully), and she can complete her homework and exams, even up to A level arts subjects. In working life, she will be using a computer, so handwriting isn't very important.

In fact, we didn't introduce / teach him how to hold the pencil, the material was there and he just picked up and used. I guess he was also exposed to writing during play school so.. 😞

    • RE: All About Handwriting

Need some advice, my son started holding pencil at age 2+, we did not notice he's holding the wrong way until he's in kindergarten. Since then, we taught him, remind him to hold it correctly but till now he's 7 years old, he still cannot hold the correct way. I thought children at young age, are flexible and adaptable to changes and should be easy for him, but we are wrong. How can we help him? Some friends told me to ignore, as long as he is comfortable... by the way, I am not holding the correct way and I tried holding the right way and it seems difficult so sometimes I really want to leave it to him but my husband (he's holding the correct way) doesn't agree with me 😞

Hope to hear some advices from you guys. Thanks! πŸ™‚
