Is it likely NTU “over-offers “ the waitlist ? Every one I know that was on the YLL NUS waitlist has got a spot but the ones who are only on the NTU waitlist are still waiting , and very few actually got converted so far ..🤔

Heard that Rejection emails have been sent out for LKC Medicine so if your children have yet to receive one then there’s still hope. Friend’s son received wait list offer converted to confirm offer on 24 June and must respond by 28th (he’s accepting). so more offers might still be in the cards after the deadline so Atb !

DS said a unofficial group chat on WhatsApp has been set up for 2021 LKC Med freshmen. It’s unofficial so those people in the group chat are invited on a word-of-mouth basis (ie.who knows who that has confirmed LKC and adds him/her into chat). There are around 130 people in the chat so far. If the intake is 150 then there’s certainly WL offers to be made -but we don’t know how exhaustive or accurate the 130 is, because there could be more people whom others haven’t added, or whether any amongst these might change their minds (eg. To go overseas , not disrupting army or whatever).

Many years after graduation, my doctor friends are still envying their dental surgeon friends for their work-life balance, getting off work on-time at regular hours and (far) better hourly pay. So that could be what it is if we think of life long-term.
Any suggestion for choosing between Dentistry and Medicine, especially for girls?
A close contact applied to both NUS Medicine & Dentistry two years ago. In the end, he got the Med interview but was rejected by Dentistry even without an interview - he said the cut off point was higher for Dentistry. He’s so set on Dentistry, tried again and eventually got in! -
RE: Application for NUS/NTU Medicine 2021/2022
My child and his classmate have double offers and both have decided on LKC Medicine after they spoke with seniors, and also senior doctors (friends & family) who teach at both schools. Personally I have no preference on either school, it’s the same MBBS (Singapore) that will stand all in good stead. Here’s sharing what they have learnt.
- Precisely bec LKC is a newer school it delivers innovation & progression in the curriculum & student teaching
- Very receptive to committing time & resources to initiatives & feedback, including many student-led ones
- Teaching pedagogy is superior ; Facilities for teaching & learning are “best in class” (quoting what they say)
- Strikes a good balance with both local SG teaching & UK via Imperial College (with really big names in the field) with opportunity for joint research projects with UK students :personally I like this for multi-dimensional exposure
- LKC is linked to National Healthcare Group wherein TTSH is a key teaching hospital (not the only one, but key). TTSH has been voted by students as amongst the best teaching hospitals by medical students in their clinical years (yr 3 - 5)
As a parent who’s only known of NUS Medicine (I was in NUS in the 90s!), I am happy to see youngsters having their own decision criteria. Anyway, both schools have such equally stringent admission criteria that we know either decision won’t be wrong.
Now it’s onwards to 5 years of very tough schooling ! Hope everyone’s kids have submitted their choices & to those on the wait list, all the best to you! -

Sorry for super late response but I just saw this and for the benefit of all doing BMAT next year, the cut off this year was similar to last , with the first section cut off at 4.9.

Snip from NTU website.

LKC was very strict on that ...
Doesn’t help even if the other sections for BMAT was very high cos I know of those with score of 7 in the second section failing to secure interview with LKC because one of the sections didn’t meet the min requirement. Also COP was 88.75 or 87.75. (IB min 43 if I’m not wrong). My friend’s child was very close (perfect scorer 90 points , BMAT slightly short) but didn’t get LKC interview despite using a pretty impressive ABAS.
All the best to all of you applying in 2022 :rahrah: -

Yes. Received a WL for NUS Medicine but yet to hear from Dentistry. Dentistry was first choice and Med is second choice. This is a fr a close friend, info is reliable
