You can submit your child's preferences:

Through the DSA-Sec Portal.
Contact your child's primary school.

It seems that either approach is acceptable but I would prefer to do so via the DSA-Sec Portal when it opens up on 31 October 2022. Since this was the avenue used to submit DSA applications in the first place, it makes sense (at least to me) to follow this approach in making the school selection.

Ah yes, yours training for Dip. So yes, the techniques would require better bow. Not so much the violin.

As I have read further - A good player can still sound good on a poor setup but the effort required is so much more than a good setup instrument And a good instrument can help a mediocre player to grow and become a better player!

Newly made violins are usually easier to play vs an antique one.

About my easier to play question - can a more expensive/good quality violin makeup for poor technique or certain tones and technique can easily be achieved on good quality violin? She had difficulty doing spiccato with her $25 bow, too heavy. Tmx recommended a $300 bow......but we did not try, circuit breaker came and forgot all about the bow and spiccatos.

Shaojunviolin shop recommends the violins and bows based on grades, the grade 8/diploma bow costs $1000.

Playing the same pieces over the next 15 months might get boring though But that's your teacher's job to plan. When mine took, we registered in August for December exam. Started work on the ATCL programme in september. Full concerto plus 2 solo pieces. Oh, and was using that 1/2-size violin. Exam studio was v dry - but that is not something we can do anything about.
