It will be prudent to use your precious time in JC 1 to prepare and do well for your Project Work, Mother Tongue (if you have not taken Higher Mother Tongue during O-Levels) and your J1 promotion exams.

RE: 2013 O Level Results
Hi, I am a former SAJCian. When my child scored 7 points net for 2012 GCE O-level, we put NYJC as first choice, Serangoon JC as 2nd choice and SAJC as 3rd choice. NYJC has a vibrant yet serious culture. It is also nearer our home. My child is in JC2 now. We are glad we made the right choice.

RE: 2013 O Level Results
Besides VJC, you may wish to consider NYJC. It is a good mid tier JC. The cut off point last year was partial 8 last year. My child went in with 7 points.

RE: * St Andrew's JC (SAJC)
Hi, Former SAJCian here. During my time back at Malan Road, the culture was also playful. However, a number of us still made it to NUS Faculty of Business Administration, Science, and Arts & Social Science.

RE: Which course to choose for Poly?
My child enjoys and does well in A Math, E Math, Biology, Chemistry & Combined Humanities (scores A1s & A2s) but is weak in English and Chinese (scores between B4 & C6). Has a cheerful disposition, good leadership skills and enjoys helping people. Aspire to go to a local university after poly. Can anyone please share your thoughts which poly courses in SP, Ngee Ann and Nanyang Poly are suitable for my child? Many thanks.

RE: Xinmin Secondary School
Yes, Xinmin is a good school. The Principal and the teachers are dedicated and they prepared the students well for the O-Levels. My child has just graduated from the school with a good L1R5. Well done, Xinmin!

RE: Continue JC or take Private A levels
Friends who mock at you aren’t your friends. Move on and make new friends who will encourage and support you. Be resilient, persevere, stay focused and tell yourself that you can perform much better than them during your A-Levels next year. If you can’t get into the Science stream, do your personal best in the Arts stream. Just to share, I was a triple Science student who chose to go to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in NUS to major in Arts/Social Science subjects that I had never taken before. If I can do it, I am sure you can.

RE: All About A Levels
My son scored L1R5 7 pts nett as follows:
A Math A1
E Math A1
Chem A1
Bio A1
Combined Humanities A2
Eng B3
He is considering AJC and NYJC which are near our home. How is the culture of these 2 JCs? Which JC is stronger in Science? Thanks. -
RE: Australia in December
Hi Minty1,
My family & I have been to all 3. We prefer Melbourne, Gold Coast followed by Perth. We particularly enjoy Melbourne’s farm stay where we had one host to a family, visit to Ballarat Wildlife Park, Phillip Island where we watched the Penguin Parade, Ashcombe Maze and the ride on Puffing Billy steam train that runs through the scenic Dandenong Ranges, just to name a few.
Gold Coast was more of Surface Paradise with beautiful beaches and theme parks like Movie World, Dream World & Sea World.
As for Perth, we like the gold-pouring demonstration at the Perth Mint, Captain Cook Cruise and the scenic view of the Swan River. The farm stay was a letdown as it was the commercialised type.
Tasmania and Sydney are also our favourites.
