Title of P1 (and P2) Science book: Eureka Science.2am:
Saw in booklist got science book for Pri 1.
may i know Title of this P1 Science textbook and workbook ? Thanks.
does the school teach P1 Science (ie. give P1 pupils a headstart in Science subject, to prepare & give them exposure ahead for P3 Science later on) during Term time normal curriculum hours, or expect CH parents to teach their P1 child Science at home (ie. read like a storybook), using this book ?
do current 2012 P1 students also have Science, or only wef 2013 P1 pupils ?
The teacher uses the book to teach Science during curriculum hours. The concepts taught are simple and can be easily understood by a P1 kid. It teaches basic science that you see in daily life.
Yes, Science has been taught to P1s in the previous years.
Hope that helps!

RE: Catholic High (Primary)
No streaming at p1. You’ll know which class your son will be in from the letter you’ll receive before orientation. Your son will be in the same class at p1 and P2. Streaming from p2 to p3.
The orientation is very informative. Need to bring sch bag since day 1. You’ll be informed which books that your son needs to bring.
No tests (other than spelling and ting xie) during term 1. The tests will start from term 2 onwards. -

Thanks, that really puts things in perspective; but, too bad, there are many mothers who are really hopeful and let the boys join CCA becoz of DSA...What's really important is whether your child enjoys what he does in the cca. Both my older boys are/were in performing CCAs in CHS pri. Both started their musical learning bc of the CCAs. But as they enjoyed, they excelled and advanced well. It would have been ok if they preferred other CCAs. Enjoyment is the key to doing well.
Hope that helps put things in perspective. -

Thank youMy opinion, CCA for Primary School is not so important, especially if, beside study, you balance their life with activities well.
Unless, you aim for DSA when they are Primary 6, excel in the CCA in area which the potential Secondary school's need is the only advantage I can think off.
The school work load itself is already stressful enough for the young mind to cope.
Just a practical dad.
However, many mothers of P1s whom already in CCAs now, are truly believe that CCA enrolment is the passport to go the DSA route. I mean, as if it is almost guaranteed :scratchhead:
To me, it is a bonus if he can go to DSA route, but if not, it is the enjoyment and the acquired skills that is more important to me

Since we are on this CCA topic… how if the kid is never "talent spotted" for any CCA? My P1 boy is the academic type; he is not that good in aesthetics nor sports.
There are a number of his classmates who have joined CCAs. Some have volunteered themselves and received confirmation later on; some have been talent spotted. My boy is still not in any CCA yet.
I have contacted a number of teachers in charge of CCAs, but I am still thinking and discussing with my boy as to which CCA to join, since I know that this is a long-term commitment, hence we need to think it carefully.
Many thanks in advance. -

Hi,Thanks Bluemoon,
Taking MRT is also an option & Circle line is just one stop away from Eunos MRT. Now at least I know there are boys not staying near Bishan.
I think there are many boys who do not stay near Bishan. At least in my ds' class. Many of the fathers are old boys, that's why they stay all around Singapore. One stays in East Coast, one in Siglap, one in Clementi. Those in East Coast and Siglap are carpooling. The one in Clementi will be moving nearer soon.
