What can we parents do. We cant tell the teachers what to do right? I just hope they have good planning for our P6s.
On a positive note, this HBL gives my DS so much more time at home. I finally have time to dish out some past year exam papers for him to do. >< Before this, totally no time on weekdays due to extra programs, supp class, CCA.

I am really getting very worried.
Already he is a slow learner. And his nonchalant attitude also a big problem. And to think PSLE is just next year.
He is already very busy this year with lots of supplementary and tuition. I cannot imagine there is still quite a lot of new topics to be taught next year. For his standard, he will take a long time to understand.
THere is only so much i can do. Sigh
I hear you, can feel your concern for your son.
Anyway, do not worry too much at this point, as there is still ample time (one year, away).
Pattern, fall under “Heuristics”
For a start, may download past-year-papers.
Inside contain “Pattern” questions, can let your son practise.
It is good to start early. The earlier start the better, so that with sufficient (ample) time, by the time your son reaches next year 2020 September, he is familiar with “Pattern” and would have mastered “Pattern” concept, by then.
below are sample “Pattern” questions, found in various primary schools (past year papers).
They are by no means, exhaustive.
Thus, if you happen to find other schools on your own initiative (eg. from the most recent 2019 Prelim papers) , please add it on to your own list, as well.
All the very best, to your son's coming 2019 P5 SA2

Dear All,

mommyNg:err.. My current sec 1 kid did not have tuition in her primary school days (though I admit I succumbed to kiasuness for a while and tried to sign her up for tuition previously but it only lasted for a few lessons, and then she was off to her own again). I am a FT working mum, the only time I \"coached\" her was when I nagged at her \"have you done your homework?\", \"are you revising your work?\". She relied mainly on her teachers, her friends, her notes, and past year papers. She scored the top 5% (or thereabout) in PSLE last year. I have another friend whose dd also did well with good PSLE scores with no tuition at all (top 10%). My friend also working mum.ChiefKiasu:[quote=\"havok_ex\"]Why not? I think its very possible. Me and my cousin had no tuition except for A math in secondary school. None in our neighbourhood JC. But both of us are in local uni now. Without much parent intervention either. Our parents never got past N-levels. They catch no ball when talking about A-level curriculum so they left us alone.
Have you looked at the study materials the kids learn these days? It was certainly possible to get by without additional coaching during our days, but I doubt we could even make it to the top 25% if we are to compete with the calibre of kids in school today.
I found this calcium from iherb recently. It's mentioned calcium citrate with magnesium citrate which is better than calcium carbonate.

i do not know the result yet...but i hope it's good for my girl, and would be benefited when they are older.
yeng:If this is a made in japan product, I will strongly advise you to avoid it at all costs. The Fukushima reactors are still leaking 300 tonnes of radioactive materials daily.Kidsprodigy:My boy who is 5 yrs old is not keen in drinking milk too. I was contemplating if I should give him calcium supplements but pd told me might cause constipation and in extreme situation kidney problems. He recommend me a supplement which has calcium and balanced nutrition. I googled and saw that it's very popular in Japan for the kids. It's called kawai kanyu drop m400. But I still give my boy his milk while taking this supplement.
We cannot eat calcium supplements and expect our body to be able to assimilate it. We need Vitamin D in order for that to happen. And we need magnesium to enable our bodies to absorb & metabolise Vit D and calcium. And so on and so forth. This is why eating whole foods will provide our body the best and safest way to nourish our body. U can't go wrong with that. In fact, eating too much calcium will deplete your magnesium levels and you will have other health issues.
Hi Yeng,
thank you for your advise. Agree with you....but however, i am a bit worry about my daughter's calcium intake.... Ordered childlife calcium liquid few weeks ago, but i give her when she does not take her milk or eat less foods that content calcium....so about 2-3 times a week.
What food do you give to your children which is higher in calcium?
Yes, i heard about those milk. Do your children milk? Any brand recommended? Thank you
yeng:Please dun feed calcium pills to your kids or yourselves. They are harmful:

Besides as I've shared previously, our body is not able to assimilate/absorb the synthetic vitamins sold on the market. In fact, they might get deposited in your kidneys and form kidney stones.
Please give your girl calcium from whole foods. Btw milk in Singapore is a terrible source of calcium. Just look at the ingredient list on your milk tin, carton or package, synthetic calcium is often added back into the milk. No diff from synthetic vitamin then. And this might come as a surprise to many, these milk when consumed into our body will cause our bones to leach calcium. Totally defeating the reason why you give your girl milk in the first place.
I can't view through website either....but apparently my daughter's form teacher sent those pictures through email last Wed. Hence, we have placed the order yesterday. Hope it helps
daddy2007:The website doesn't has any response after entering the school name. Initially I thought might be browser issue. Apparently not after trying with 3 different browsers and 2 different OSesjacsplace:Hi,
Has anyone tried viewing photos on the vendor's website? I just tried and it's a joke! Have just written to the teacher relating all the problems I encountered.
But just wondering if anyone was actually successful in viewing any photos?
Thanks edge07. Yes…consider that one also as it’s calcium citrate instead calcium carbonate.
