      My DD is in 106.

According to her Chinese teacher, there are 6 classes where students are taking Higher Chinese.

    • RE: Maid repatriated due to pregnancy

When my 3-month old maid became pregnant, the maid agency advised us to 1) confirm pregnancy and 2) send her back to base country asap. Reason –> Agency explained that there maybe some complexity if maid has miscarriage and needed medical care.

    • RE: Shoe Rack and Book Shelves

I bought my shoerack on line from sg furniture. It can store enough shoes for my family of 7. It’s been with me for about 4 years and still going strong.

    • RE: Maid to get weekly rest days

my maid is already getting lots of time off every day (including Saturday and Sundays).

As I’m working from home recently, I noticed that all my maid does is hide out in her room after she has finished vacuuming, mopping and done with the laundry (chores are completed within 4 hours). She does not cook or do grocery shopping.

    • RE: How to direct hire my ex-maid from Filipino?

When I called the agent yesterday, they mentioned the cost of S$ 2,300 which is used for the processing on both PH and SG side and air ticket.

Can I check if the employer should bear the cost of the agency fees?

Similar to the hiring of a new maid where they would pay off their loans over a 6-month period, I would imagine that this cost would be borne by the maid (direct hire) as well. Is this not the case?

    • RE: Blacklist Maid Ima Ariyani

Aiyoh… so heart pain. An adult kicking a defence-less 5 YO child. When I read reports like such, I wonder how an adult can hurt a child like that.

I have heard of cases where maids may return to Singapore with a different name. Would you have a pix of the maid that you can share so that we can keep a lookout?

I’m also interested to expose my kids to volunteer work so that they know how fortunate that they have been. Can pm me if there are information?

    • RE: Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary

If not for this forum, I would not have any idea of the banding.

Just asked my son and he told me that he would walk over to next class for his Math class (he’s M3). He’s not too bothered by the banding and I can see that he still likes the subject (which is great)!

The way I look at the banding - it’s helping the children to learn according to their ability. Otherwise, it may kill their interest in the subject altogether.

    • RE: wow, exercise - a great way to start the day

After a decade of trying slimming salons, crash diets, appetite suppressants and all where the weight loss returns with a vengeance, I have found that the most effective weight loss is a combination of diet, exercise and a life-style change.

      Some of my learning:-
      - Understand why are you trying to lose weight? Is it to look good or for health reasons?
      - Having a buddy helps as you would encourage each other.
      - Vary the type of exercise - so that boredom does not set in
Agree with the earlier comment that cardio exercise does not sustain the weight loss. Consider a combination of resistance and cardio exercises.
