    • RE: Which laptop for JC use

      BigDevil:
I had been recommending friends and families to get Dell for several years.

Not because Dell is more superior than other brands, but simply
      for its warranty service.

Dell does not maintain a service centre in Singapore. All servicing
is done by Dell appointed engineers and they come to your home/office
      to service the faulty device.

I used to own an Acer notebook, and ended up spending hours at Acer
service centre when I brought it in for repair. Once I found out Dell
offer on-site service, I was hooked.
I am curious, what happen after the warranty period for Dell? Do they still come on-site? Otherwise, where to find for service?

      Thanks

Actually many applicants to NUS already got the offers the next day after application submission.

NTU rushed out the offers in order to attract students who are worried about their application to NUS. Psycho games.

Yes I agree it's a psychological game NUS is playing, especially with the top 80%-100% percentile pupils. My observations is NUS is fast to churn out offers to those around 70%-80% percentile pupils. The rest are kept waiting.

I guess the Psycho game is about would you rather be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond?

Business Accountancy - Can anyone kindly share some hindsight how this faculty fair in both NUS vs NTU?

Why is NTU able to cram this programme into 3 years with direct honours whereas NUS needs 4 years?

      Many thanks.

Why do you need to give up? We manage to do long & short during the major years. But asking now cos ain't sure about Uni.

My kids are nearly done with school already. One may start work next year (if she continues to study, maybe we will be able to arrange something) and the other will be in university in 2018. We suspect that opportunities for longer family holidays will be pretty much over after this year.

That's true :(..once starts work will probably be lucky if we can max out a 14 days trip

      Thanks for your input.

So the final year is as good as no vacation break. May I know for the non-academic in Dec is it compulsory? What are the consequences if we do not attend.

Reason asking as my family intend to be away for the whole month.

Non-academic activities typically are mainly related to Hall and CCA. These events are student organised.

In NUS & NTU, one reason why students participate in these activities is due to the points system for Hall (Hostel) allocation.

I guess your child is starting university in the upcoming academic year (Aug 2016). So if you miss some events due to holiday, it may affect your child's chances for Hall Admission in the next academic year (Aug 2017).

On the other hand, if your child is not interested in staying in Hall, it's perfectly fine to go on holiday.

Let me know if you need more information!

Pardon my ignorance, but don't the students in year 1 start living in the hall/hostel when they enrol in Aug? What does it mean by getting the chances for Aug 2017?

      Thanks

For most students, internship is optional.

In NUS, from experience, during vacations there is most likely nothing ongoing, unless the student signs up for (optional) vacation courses/internship/exchange.
That's comforting to know that its optional. Thanks.

Anyone else has experience on someone you know that have many tasks to do during vacations, be it Semester 1&2, from Year 1-4?
