• RE: X-Factor Quotient - Discussion

Attended for 4 mths before pulling out.

Thought it was good having this experienced ex-MOE tr teaching Math in X Factor. But practically using half the time making them do on the spot worksheets and can be MIA from classroom at times. At that time, my child was preparing for SA2 exam and I would expect this tr shld be more productive in teaching and have the worksheets bring back home to do during weekends.

Also, the methods used were not to standard as my child actually bought the sch worksheet to ask for help. Ended up, the sch tr marked as β€˜This is not correct method !’

myWQ:

If anyone here has any decency or respect to the deceased and the people involved, they should stop gossiping and speculating on this tragedy.

I am reading this statement with interest, esp the words \"gossiping\" and \"speculating\".

Just base on the news alone, the SOP of the police force needs to be re-studied if that's the way they handle young alleged criminals. The news should provide the public with more details on how can police be allowed to visit secondary school to lead an alleged criminal away. The SOP to handle an alleged who is 4 years old, 14, years old, and a full grown adult should be different but that's not what I have read from the news.

Given no other details, we can only speculate (I don't think the content so far is about 'gossip'), hoping to give some justice to the decease. If everyone just keeps quiet, then similar tragedy may happen again.

The boy has passed on but his death can be a more meaningful one if it can change the SOP of the police force.

So why should everyone stop discussing?

I also pin blame on the school. The admin should protect their students instead of letting the police bring the child out of school like this. Schools are supposed to be 'protected' area and key responsibility of school will include protecting the students. They should discuss with the policemen about the best thing to do for the child instead of blindly let the policemen lead the child out of school.

I am not saying that the child should not be punished if he was really doing wrong, but such punishment must met his offence and age.

The police force owes the public an explanation of their insensitivity in conducting this 'interview' with the child.

I read this article with a heavy heart as DD is same age as this boy.

Imagine a young life is gone and the agony that his parents have to go thru with this loss.

It is indeed a sad news to hear, especially we are parents ourselves too.

i am still thinking why the boy had to face the police...couldn't the school have done investigations quietly? could the school have shown some compassion?

Since police report has been lodged, an investigation is required.
Shin Min news hilited the police went to his sch while classes were going on.
The police should exercise more care on this case.

Make love not war. πŸ˜‚ With ratio of two girls to one boy everyone should be happy irregardless of school location what. πŸ’‹

πŸ˜† :rotflmao: Ah boy is still the cutest. No war. War is bad. Just mediator view as spy/enemy.

You are right. Love will be in the air, ivory tower or none.

Contagious seeing this thread more of warzone than anything more constructive
One consideration is having holding sch in Toa Payoh Rise ( near former TP Hospital and Caldecott MRT) . Used by St Nic and CHIJ Pri formerly.

Wrong configuration leh.
JC usually need lecture hall/theatre and adequately equipped labs.

That's why they need mount Sinai
The problem is Mt Sinai TOO FAR.... still can't get it?
With a small size cohort, is it a necessity to have LT? Think out of the box pls. Go for classroom teaching then if LT not available. For lab, MOE can modify / add in what is required for the students and there's lab in Toa Payoh Holding Sch. Given Bishan was the site for new JC, thus the holding sch should be close proximity with these 3 schs and not all the way to Mt Sinai. Toa Payoh should be considered too.

Worked up? Not at all πŸ˜† . Look who tried to put down NYGH & HCI :siao: ? I fully respect all the kids who make it to the schools of their preference based on their 'own merit'.
Claiming not to be worked up..and sending such a note with !!! :rotflmao:

When there is affiliation and HMT to leverage on, it may be easier to get in to these schs. Bear in mind, I do not put down these schs. Just a fact that with HMT, COP for HCI / NYGH looks as if they are higher than RI / RGS. If HMT is removed totally, COP will obviously be lower for HCI / NYGH.

My view on indicative COP

RI : 259
RGS : 259
HCI : 256 ( can leverage on HMT 3 points max - Min COP will be 253 )
NYGH : 261 ( can leverage on HMT 3 points max - Min COP will be 258 )

On side note and own opinion, both RGS and RI are the cream of the top as compared to the rest. No affiliation with pri schs and no HMT to leverage on. Kudos to these kids who made it thru their own merits !

Do you mean to say that those kids using HMT do not make it to NYGH and HCI thru their own merit?
Everyone has their preference so pls do not discredit the kids who mAke it to NYGH and HCI thru their own merit too! Not everyone wants to go to the RI schools!!!

Why are u so worked up? :siao:

Did I explicitly say that that NYGH and HCI do NOT make it on their own merits? I just put in my opinion here to view that the requirements from RI/RGS are higher. Simple as that !

Don't put words into one's mouth and simply put in !!! to put down RI schs.
