Hi, any parents kid in Horizon taking Higher Chinese? My girl in P5 taking higher Chinese and only scored 60 plus for her SA2 this year… I am very disappointed, but my daughter said lots of her classmate failed the exam. I was wondering how is the standard for higher Chinese in horizon? Any idea to share?

Hi, my daughter is P5 this year, having PSLE in 2021. Is it too late for her to prepare for SOTA now? I understand from SOTA website, for DSA admission, they will look at P5 SA2 result as well. My daughter didn’t do well in SA2, English and Chinese scored 65-70, Math and Science scored 80, was wondering what are the chances for her… Appreciate experienced parents give me some advice. Thanks!

Any peichun parents stay in punggol? My BTO flat will be ready early next year and i am struggling not sure we should move over to punggol or not?!

      1. I don’t want my girl to change school (she is in P1 now), not just because i think peichun is consider a good school, also because i don’t want her to change environment and lost her fds in toa payoh.
      2. On the other hand, when she start morning class, i am afraid she need to wake up at 5am every morning and travel a long way to peichun.
3.If we don’t move over to our new BTO flat and keep renting the existing place in toa payoh, that’s quite heavy burden for us (rent app.2k).
      4. Can anyone have similar experience share with me?

      Thanks!!

      ksks:
There is no streaming from p1 to p4. P4 going to p5 is the determining streaming year. Streaming is based on academic. The school also set aside a class for students who are on school sport team.

Thanks! so by saying the streaming is based on academic, they look at all the past academic record? or just the year end result for P4? Thanks.

    • RE: Nanyang Primary

      phtthp:
If your son cannot do P3 Tests, then go back to attempt P2 Test papers.

Ascertain precisely at which level papers he is comfortable at.

Because should Nanyang primary decide to give chance, admit your son -
School will give him a level, in which he is comfortable in.
Not let him come in join the school, only to struggle all the way through.
This is not what the school want.
They want your son to be confident, able to cope at that particular level.

Also, because your son is now P3 -
He is Not enrolling for P1 admission, so this alumni thing doesn't apply.
Because alumni Phase 2A1 only applicable during P1 registration time.

School will now assess your P3 son -
Together with the same pool of children, waiting inside the waitlist, seeking Transfer for P3 admission. Thus, is competitive.

The children waiting to seek Transfer into Nanyang include :-
      - kids who were balloted out during P1 registration,
      - kids who had applied for Transfer from other primary schools,
      - younger siblings of (P4 to P6) GEP students.

In offering Transfer to successful candidates -
Besides looking at past academic results, school may also evaluate other aspects of character traits (eg : talent, leadership skill, CCA skills, oratorical skills), Sg / Pr child.
I would like to know more about how to transfer to nanyang. How they select? and any priority given to particular group of candidate? For example, those who were balloted out during P1 registration? Those staying within 1km?? Thanks.
