Hello there, I'm enquiring. My daughter got accepted into GUZHENG AND CHINESE ORCHESTRA in DHS. She has problems deciding which to pick. Firstly, she has quite a lot of commitments with third language and tuitions (she's a little of a slow learner). Her original choice was CO followed by GZ but the teacher in charge told her that because it's hard to get into Guzheng and since she has, the teacher would like to give her a chance to change her choice. She has totally no music background and is not sure because she is worried that if she joins CO, she will not be given a CCA of her choice. Since she doesn't have Guzheng experience, do you know if she will have a chance to represent school team sometime and what do you think about the CCA management? ๐Ÿ™‚

Am rather surprise to read that \"without music background\" and \"no guzheng experience\" but gotten into the popular CO CCA n accepted into guizheng CCA as well...(since guizheng intake number is very small)...

Nevertheless....congrats for getting her choiced of CCA...

At least they give chances to those who are really keen lor. The students need to go through interviews before they are selected. Have spoken to the Shangyin teacher and in fact she prefer those new breed as they can mold them. Don't know how true it is. But anyway, those new students will be performing in the upcoming CNY events as well.
Thanks to @sg.angel and @augmum for your quick responses ๐Ÿ™‚ haha yup we were all very surprised because she actually told us that she had sort of screwed up the auditions. But nevertheless thanks for your advice and maybe your children excel in everything they do too... We have decided to pick Guzheng. Thank you...

Hi, would like to share a bit on this. My girl has no music background as well and after the cca interview, she got into Guzheng cca as well. It's a small group and they only accept 9 students from year one last year. Including herself, there are 3 of them who are totally new to Guzheng. Every students have to attend Guzheng lesson in external music school organized by the school (for CO as well). They also need to take the Guzheng assessment (่€ƒ็บง๏ผ‰every year. Since it's a small group, everyone has a chance to participate in any events. Think it's a great opportunity.

Thank you for your response. May I know if she's coping well? Because of additional lessons of the GZ im not sure if I daughter can handle it. She has 3 tuition days and 1 third language ๐Ÿ™‚ @sg.angel

      Thank you very much ๐Ÿ™‚

btw, does Dunman High provide school bus service, to students ?
Only in the morning ๐Ÿ™‚ but it also depends on where you stay as there's a list of places they can pick you up from ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello there, my daughter got accepted in GZ and CO. She has quite heavy commitments with outside school activities and I was wondering if Any advice on which CCA to take can be given. Although she should be allocated into the CCA in order of what she had chosen, she had originally put GZ as third choice and CO as second, but the teacher told her that GZ is quite an elite CCA so since she got in, ask her to consider if she wants to change that to second choice. She has completely no background btw. Do advice on which CCA would be better thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

DHS or RGS? Whatโ€™s your take? Distance not much of a problem. Hope to find people with recent experiences on comparison. Thanks

My daughter also considering to take 3rd language. Stuck between French and Japanese, perhaps even Malay as well (important language in SG). Any inputs and suggestions and also maybe if DHS has any of the languages taught in school so my daughter need not go out of school?

Hi All, my child just received her results. Now having a hard time to choose between the RGS and DHS for her first choice. Anyone able to give some input? Weโ€™re having a headache already!!!

If no specific preference, go by distance.

hmmโ€ฆ In terms of inconvenience and assessibility, both equally inconvenient!
