Hi all,

I saw in 2019 application for nus/ntu medicine application forum that the RI acceptance rate to nus yll school is 35% while HCI is 20%. Does it mean that the recent years for RI acceptance rate is no longer 50%?

Rawsalmon, may I ask why your boy first and only choice is HCI? How does he know about HCI that made him decide this is the only school he wants?

He has been there during open house and love the school super big compound. He found RI compound cramp as compared to HCI. Tats his so called reason for choosing HCI.

Good enough reason in my opinion!! Haha Whatever that makes the kid happy is more important as after all he is the one who must LOVE the school.

PS: I have a sneaky feeling we are long lost friends :P
Hi manorway,

I happened to chance upon this reply. Is ur child in HCI? Why do you say that we may be long lost friends? :?

Among the few tuition centres that we inquired, one is already fully booked for many popular time slots, another one is 80% full. I am quite surprised that there are so many parents even more kiasu than me... šŸ˜†

DD1 started sec 1 with zero tuition. Along the way, teacher called to say she needed help for her Lang Arts so I called this popular center and was told Sat/Sun slots all full and for selected weekdays left only the 7.30pm-9.30pm.

So from Sec 1 (April) onwards, I was put on waitlist till Sec 2, then I managed to get a weekend slot!!!

DD1’s class full of boys. For her class of 12 (max class size), 9 are from RI/HCI. Thus, students from top schools do attend tuition. Top schools can produce fantastic A-level results partly because their parents also very generous in providing quality tuition to assist their child along the way.

Can know which tuition centre is that? Which subjects they offer?
Hi, I hope more parents can see the danger of having their decisions dictated by PSLE scores. Hopefully my personal stories can help you to find a decision-making process that suits your family.

I know this article that has a shelf life of no more than 3 days (before 27 November the deadline), but I certainly hope it can go a long way to help more families. Happy reading and have some laughs.

Thank you for sharing ur story. Ours is very similar to your story, still finding consensus on RI and HCI. Boy wants his first and only choice, HCI. That is why we are still heafache over this and yet to submit online.
