So looks like the Ip program in asci is quite different from other IP schools. Were reading the art and music elective program info, and they indicated that if you do MEP, the student will not need to do the food and consumer education nor the D&T.
I didnt come across any subjects/courses that are exactly what you mentioned, but there are similar topics covered in the many out-of-classrooms and enrichment programs that cover aspects of design and technology. There is also an annual IDEX competition that students can participate in, as well as others such as Pathfinders programs. You can find out more such programs at ACSI website, under talent development. There's also a huge range of CCA that caters to many interests, and some of them could be relevant to the below, e.g. in the robotics / computer tech clubs.
Thanks again! Appreciate it. -
RE: Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
Hi there,
Hope someone can help w this question :
I am wondering if Acsi offers the Design & Technology or the Food & Consumer Education to their O level and IB students? If not, what do the boys do in lieu?
Thanks!! -

RE: Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
Hopefully, some kind souls whose kids are already in acsi can help w my questions -
1) year 5 admissions are only for affiliated schools or free for all to apply? Are there affiliation points?
2) are ccas, be it UG, sports or other aesthetics conducted on a a certain day? Eg in our primary school, the ccas are conducted on mostly Wednesdays
Thank you all! Appreciate it! -
RE: DSA 2022
Why the teachers told the kids not to discuss the paper is possibly that w the clash w RI DSA test, some kids are doing the selection paper another day. I ran into one of the NUSH volunteer on Sat and he told me about 1800 came for the test.

RE: Hua Cheng Education Centre - Discussion
Hope our last 6 years experience at hua cheng will
Help Mummies who are undecided which Chinese center to pursue for their child. My kid comes from a mainly Eng speaking environment and simply wouldn’t speak mandarin at all. We enrolled him in hua cheng since K2 and up to p4, my child was able to score A and A* for his Chinese and even was offered to choose Hcl subsequently. Like what another parent shared in previous post, hua cheng follows the moe syllabus closely and I never had to spend time with him with school tingxie because huacheng would have covered it. The Teachers are also very nice and prompt if you have questions. While my kid is very uncomfortable with the language, I don’t ever hear any complaints attending classes. It was amazing to us. So we have been quite contented at hua cheng. It may not be as rigourous as Wang(we went for two years concurrently w huacheng for Ccw and the experience wasn’t good. They pitch it too high and kids can’t cope or don’t enjoy, at least in our experience). BUT- P5 Chinese took a huge leap in terms of difficulty and suddenly my child’s CL grades dropped and here I am wondering if hua cheng curriculum is still enough for my kid. But then again, P5 is known to be tough across all subjects. Nonetheless, at this moment, I will take the leap of faith, and continue at hua cheng. Hope this helps. -
RE: All About Choosing Piano Schools And Teachers
Well, I must say I am rather put off by the customer service girls at Aureus. They hire attractive girls for the front office but lacking sincerity and rather ‘atas’-at least the ones we met and interacted with. The teachers are good though. I find it hard to put up with arrogance esp when they charge one of the highest lesson fees in Singapore. A friend also shared that it can be quite challenging to arrange a make up class. I am going to suss around for another center.

Mindchamps is great but the fees..
Tell me about it! But if you rationalise that it is a full day childcare and their enrichment programs, and if you child is happy and learning...( ok ok I am consoling myself....) When we were scouting for a good centre, we visited 3 mindchamps branches and we were very impressed with 2 of the principals and the follow up. At Sjck, I must say I have been disappointed by the service staff who attended to my queries, ( I truly hope Sjck management read this forum) and they seem v disinterested and not very helpful. They didn't reply to my email. They seem very bochap and less professional so i am quite flabbergasted. I wonder if it is because they are not exactly a 'commercial' enterprise...I hope I am wrong. There r so many good reviews here regarding teachers and happy kids at Sjck. -

Not true that Mindchamps' play is restricted to outdoor. Some centers offer outdoor and my child is in one w outdoor and pool play. I am here because i am considering switch to St James only because I want to expose my child to a Christian preschool. Mindchamps is great so far and my little darling at 2 year old could sing in mandarin after 4 weeks in school and you don't have to subject your child to a full day program. Bring the child home anytime if you honestly think it's too rigid.Actually, if you want your kid to be in an academically focused kindy, you should try Mindchamps.
I have been to their guided tour... and wow, it looks more like a boot-camp. Your toddlers basically check-in in the mornings and end their day in the evenings. Enrichments, play (for your info, their play is never outdoors hor), studies, nap, bath, meals, etc all included in the whole day.
