Son getting psle result this coming thurs. I read in previous posting i read, the Chinese standard in RV is high. Does student still require to read 四大名著 each year starting sec 1, periodically ( how often ) write chinese books review , read Chinese article weekly? Please share more about the Chinese study needed. Thanks

My son in sec 2 did not have to read 四大名著. My daughter in sec 3 said her teacher went through 红楼梦 during appreciation of chinese culture class. She said no one takes it seriously since it does not affect the final grade for HCL.

Both my kids speak only English at home and they can manage HCL in RVHS without tuition, so I think the Chinese teachers are doing a good job. My son did not take higher Chinese in primary school. I told him just try to pass will do. He did better than I expected. So don’t worry. The most important thing is to have a good attitude.

My maid def does not have a KTKLN card. I actually asked her to make one but she said no need. Not sure what the agent did for her but I guess it was mainly to help grease some wheels a little so that she could exit more smoothly. :evil:

Not sure, but I think they can simply leave Batam as a tourist (like those people you can see standing near our MRT stations selling food eg curry puffs). Don't need to be processed as a maid there.

I remember reading somewhere on MOM website that you cannot employ someone who is on tourist visa to work as a maid. MOM just does not want to make things too convenient for employers.

Recently on 23/05/15 had signed up a transfered Indonesian maid with this G... Employment Agency at Changi Road with agency fee of $850. After a week the maid requested to go back to the agency because she say she cannot work in Chinese family as she cannot do prayer and wear Tudong so we sent her back on 01/06/15 which is only 7 days under our employment. We had been trying to locate the boss to discuss on the refund, but despite our several calls and messages the boss of the company just ignore and never call back and reply at all. And until now we still couldn't talk to her. The office have only one staff to entertain us saying the boss said can only refund 20% of the agency fee which is only $170 even if we not getting any replacement from them. Can u imagine is only 7 days employment and she is the one that wated to go back to the agency. And until now the maid have not found any employer yet, and if she is not being transferred, my new maid cannot come to my place and I have to continue paying her levy. This agency is really horrible and how can they do business like that.... Planning to make police report and file to case and small claim.


I need all mommies advise on this matter.

You can always go to MOM online and cancel her work permit. You don't have to wait for the maid agency.

It is very easy for an adult to verify whether the girl is under age or not, just ask to see the I.C. This why the ex-principal plead guilty, he knew he could not get away with it.


As for the girl, her future is not ruined since no one knows who she is. She could very well be still studying in poly or university. She can continue her life as if nothing has happened. If she does not think that what she has done is morally wrong, then there is no reason why she should feel any remorse.

I may be the oldest RGS girl, I studied there from 1982 to 1985. Then I went on to RJC and NUS.
